Out on the Town

March 11 - Men’s Outing:

The Edgemere BBQ Posse returns to

the Baby Back Shak at 1800 South

Akard, near the Dallas Police Head-

quarters building. We can expect a

large contingency of Police among

the dinners as well as having good BBQ. The BBS also

attracts downtown professionals as well as Medical Stu-

dents from UTSW; and the take-out business is very

good. It's a "not to miss dining experience." Boarding at

10:45AM, Departing at 11:00AM. Cash only. Sign up

with the Concierge.

March 12 - Movie Outing: “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”

Richard Gere checks in with the A-list cast

for the continuing adventures of elderly Brit-

ons in an Indian retirement hotel. Jaipur's

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for the Elderly

and Beautiful has become a huge success for

ambitious young Sonny (Dev Patel). Muriel (Maggie

Smith) is now installed as his business partner. Douglas

(Bill Nighy) and Evelyn (Judi Dench) have also joined

the workforce. And with new arrivals Lavinia (Tamsin

Greig) and American writer Guy (Richard Gere) vying

for the one remaining room, it's clearly time for expan-

sion. But busy Sonny is also occupied by his impending

marriage to Sunaina (Tena Desae). This love in the air

seems to be contagious. Madge (Celia Imrie) swoons over

suave, handsome Guy, while Douglas and Evelyn's ro-

mance continues to develop. The original director, writer

and magnificent main cast of the delightful 2012 sleeper

hit reunite for this eagerly anticipated sequel. Deliciously

unexpected developments are promised! Showtimes are

not available at the this, sign up with the Concierge

and we will contact you with the departure time.

March 19 - Museum Outing: The Crow Collection of Asian Art

We will be visiting the Crow Collec-

tions on March 19. We have not visit-

ed recently but two collections looked

very interesting and everyone loves

the Crow Museum. The first one is At

Home and at Court: Chinese and Japanese Paintings

from the Crow Collection. This exhibition draws on the

museum's holdings of paintings from China and Japan,

and explores the East Asian painting formats of hanging

scrolls, hand scrolls, and folding screens. These medi-

ums, and the traditional subjects of landscapes, religious

figures, bird and flower compositions, and seasonal

plants, are part of the shared fine-art heritage of China

and Japan celebrated with works created for enjoyment

in private and public, at home and at court. The 2nd one

is Fundamental and Superfluous: The Arts of Life in

China, Japan, and Korea. This exhibition ex-

amines works of art from the Museum’s per-

manent collection that present artistic imagery

and auspicious symbolism as design elements

embedded within sculptural objects with a

functional purpose. These vases, chests, and

objects d’art are imbued with symbols and be-

liefs of the cultures in which they were created. The ar-

tistic mastery with which they were crafted in lacquer,

cloisonné, ceramics, and metal elevates these objects to

a level of fine art, at once excessively superfluous and

profoundly symbolic of enduring cultural values in East

Asia. The Admission is free. We leave at 10:30am and

we will lunch at our favorite Deli in the Crow Business

Center. Cost is lunch off the menu.

March 30 - Lunch Outing: Mr. Mesero

It’s time we try a Mexican Food

lunch outing! Mr. Mesero sounds

just right for us since they also have

an American standards menu

too. Here is what the D Magazine

has to say…After creating a ward-

robe of successful restaurant concepts and being part of

very special projects with a collection of very talented

people, please enjoy Mico Rodriguez latest creation, Mr.

Mesero. The restaurant features American Standards and

Mexican Classics and Mico Rodriguez is back doing what

he does best: turning out high-quality food and providing

stellar service. “I started out with 12 tables and hit it big,”

Rodriguez says. “I’m in here waiting tables and watching

everything going on…” His American/Mexican menu

offers two classic soups from Mexico. Fideo y pollo, a

soul food soup, is golden chicken stock filled with chunks

of tender chicken and thin strips of vermicelli. The Amer-

ican side of the menu includes a juicy double-meat ham-

burger and other favorites…Cost is meal off the menu.

We leave at 11:00am.
