Safety BeltsSafety belts are the single most effective safety devices in your vehicle. DO NOT let anybody, including rear seat passengers, ride in the vehicle without buckling their safety belts, or child safety seats. To wear the safety belt properly (for adults only):1 Close and lock the door.2 Adjust the seat so you can sit up straight.3 Pick up the latch plate and pull the belt

across you.4 Push the latch plate into the buckle until it

clicks.5 Check that the belt fits snugly. The lap part

of the belt should be worn low and snug on the hips, just touching the thighs. The shoul-der belt should go over the shoulder and across the chest. To make the lap part tight, pull up on the shoulder belt.

Note: The following is an overview of your vehicle safety features and is not intended to replace the specific instructions found in your vehicle Owner Manual. Please read your Owner Manual for complete details about your vehicle safety features.

FASTEN BELTS

Safety belts are the single most effective safety devices in your car. DO NOT let anyone, includ-ing rear seat passengers, ride in the car without being buckled up.

Grasp the belt, pull it out and allow the slack to be taken up by the reel. The belt must be well in on the shoulder.

Do not use mobile phone while driving. If you are an OnStar subscriber, you may press the blue button to connect you with an OnStar Advi-sor (if equipped). The red button is an emer-gency button.

Children from 3-12 years -15-36 kg/33-80 lbs, shorter than 140 cm (56 inches) - should be seated in separate child seats or on booster cushions. Ensure that the child is seated as far back as possible. Check that the belt is fastened and that it fits snugly, low across the hips and well in on the shoulder.

NEVER fit a child seat in front of the passenger AIRBAG. DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY can occur. Children under 13 years of age or shorter than 140 cm (56 inches) should travel in the rear seat. Do not put objects between the airbags and occupants.

Correct seat position-ing is vital for your safety. Sit in an upright position and not too close to the instrument panel.

ALWAYS move the driver’s seat as far rear-wards as practically possible for maximum safety and control. The airbag needs space to inflate. When the airbag is activated, all of the doors are unlocked while the interior/exterior lighting and the hazard warning lights are illuminated at the same time

LATCH (Lower Anchorages & Top tethers for Children) consists of two types of attachments for child restraints in the rear seat, the lower anchorages and the top tether. The lower anchorages are two rigid bars located in the seat bight.

Position the rear view mirrors prior to driving, for best field of view.

If trapped within the trunk, you may pull the trunk release handle to open the trunk lid.

ALWAYS secure heavy, bulky loads to the lash-ing eyes in the luggage compartment. Place the load as low and as far forward as possible against the rear seat backrest. The floor and side nets should only be used to secure light objects.SportCombi: NEVER stack loads above the edge of the back rest unless a cargo net or cargo grille is being used.

Children from 0-3 years (0-18 kg/0-40 lbs) must ALWAYS ride in an appropriate child seat. Make sure that the child seat is securely mounted, according to the manufactures instructions. Saab recommends rearward facing child restraints.National and/or regional laws regarding use of child restraints and their attachments may apply. Always follow the child restraint manu-facturer’s instructions.

Sentronic Automatic transmission 3

Your automatic transmission can also be shifted manually using a feature called "Sentronic". This system allows you to change gears manually, using the controls on the steering wheel.

To operate:

1 Move the selector lever to the M position.2 Select a higher gear by pushing the right-

hand paddle on the steering wheel (+).3 Select a lower gear by pushing the left-hand

paddle on the steering wheel (-).Manual gear selections are shown on the main instrument panel. The selector position and the current gear are displayed.Changes from 3rd to 4th and from 4th to 5th can be made when the engine speed is above roughly 2,000 rpm.If the road surface is slippery, you may wish to start off in 2nd or 3rd to reduce the risk of exces-sive wheel spin. When descending hills you should select a low gear to increase the braking effect of the engine. When in manual mode, kick-down operates for 4th and 5th gears (below 2,000 rpm). Kick-down cannot be activated in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gears.(See your Owner’s Manual, section Starting and driving).

Saab Parking Assistance 3

The parking aid system facilitates parking and reversing. The system is activated automati-cally when reverse is engaged or selected. There are four sensors in the rear bumper that detect objects up to 6 feet(1.8 metres) behind the car. When the sensors detect an object within the monitored area, the SID will display the text "PARK ASSIST" and pulses of sound (- - - -) will be heard. The frequency of the pulses increases as the car comes closer to the object. When the distance to the object is less than 12 in. (30 cm), a continuous tone will be heard.(See your Owner’s Manual, section Starting and driving).

On certain models, the passenger side mirror glass can be angled down to help you see the road/curb when reversing. After selecting Reverse gear, press the button located under the touch pad for mirror adjustment. The passenger side door mirror will angle down to provide a better rear view. Pressing the button again will return the mirror to its normal position, or the mirror will automatically return once you drive forward about 65 feet.
