A very special highlight of WIEN MODERN 2014 (29 October ndash 21 No-vember 2014) will be the world pre-miere of the specially commissioned work Das Leben am Rande der Milchstraszlige a sit-com opera in seven episodes with music by Austrian composer Bernhard Gander For the project the Wiener Konzerthauss Berio Hall will be transformed into a sta-te-of-the-art television studio The sitcom opera will attempt to forge a link between contemporary music theatre with one of the most popu-lar film and TV formats The sitcom format with episodes lasting about

25 minutes enables social issues and problems to be broached and looked at in a humouristic way In Das Le-ben am Rande der Milchstraszlige it is the dizzying speed of change in our working lives that form the backdrop
