  • SEAN MICHAEL SALAMON Trio for flute, B-flat clarinet, and piano I. Prelude II. Nocturne III. Variations on Brul from Bartoks Romanian Folk Dances FROM THE COMPOSER

If you are planning to perform or program my Trio for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano, youre in good company. Over the past six years, the piece has been performed by ensembles throughout the United States and in twelve countries around the world. And because I made the piece freely available on imslp.org, theyve been able to do so at no cost.

This Trio is the first piece of music I ever completed, cover to cover. I was sixteen years old. As you might expect, the piece is deficient in a few things craft and originality among them. But the piece is optimistic and self-assured, and certainly very easy for most people to listen to. When you perform it, do so with exuberance and joy.

    Sean Michael Salamon

Trio for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano was first performed, unbeknownst to the composer, in May 2009 at the School of Music in Wetzlar, Germany. It was given its official premiere in August of that year by students at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.

2008 Sean Michael Salamon. If you plan to perform this work, contact the composer at [email protected].
