The result is a boardroom that has a new large LCD screen, a refreshed ceiling-housed sound system, and a wireless Barco presentation system that has everyone motivated to use the facilities.

The clunky cabling has gone, along with the amplifier and DVD player, so has the need to hook up each end point separately, and so have the complaints.

Simplicity and user friendliness are key to success

The boardroom’s new AV system is used for internal meetings, client presentations and training.

Several visitors to Brook Street have already enquired about the system design and have looked for advice on their own presentation facilities.

The keys to the system’s success are its ease of use and flexibility. A problem for many companies is that, despite the claims of suppliers, systems are not always truly intuitive, operable at a mouse click, or plug and go. They frequently require IT support or regular training.

Carillion took time to understand how the boardroom is used and, after detailed discussion, introduced Barco’s ClickShare. ClickShare enables users to add multiple laptops or iPads easily and to display multiple presentations simultaneously or cycle them. The ability to queue presentations keeps meetings running smoothly and overcomes the presenter switchover delays - or “dead space”, as Richard Wright called it - associated with the old projector days.

Richard Wright describes how ClickShare has had a positive effect on system uptake. “It is simple, quick and easy, and even ‘busy’ content, that was indistinct on the old system, is clearly visible from the back of the room and doesn’t pixelate if you’re sitting at the front.”

ClickShare gets everyone involved in meetings

Barco’s ClickShare wireless presentation and collaboration system allows meeting participants to share content on the central meeting room screen. At the click of a button, the content of laptops, tablets or smartphones is displayed on screen.
