What is OM Plus My-Print-Delivery?

My-Print-Delivery provides:

The ability to submit print jobs, have them securely held on a print server and then selectively released on demand, at a convenient printer.

This provides a secure print workflow that eliminates the potential for print jobs to be sent to the wrong printers or for print jobs to be left waiting to be picked up, as would be the case using the normal "Print and Find" workflow.

Secure printing is a frequently requested capability in healthcare and other industries that have strict regulations on leakage of health information, personal credit, confidential company information and more.

Why Integrate OM Plus with Imprivata OneSign?

Need for Integration

Although OM Plus can maintain its own print release authentication information, for those users with Imprivata OneSign, there is the added benefit of being able to maintain all workstation, application and print release badge authentication information in the OneSign database.

OM Plus software suite can now integrate with the Imprivata OneSign Print Connector API to authenticate users/badges in a secure mobile print release workflow.

Front-end Share Kiosk Printing Challenge/Solution

Shared kiosk workstations do not require end users to log in to Windows. This improves speed of access to clinical information, but only provides a generic user name with print jobs. This normally makes it impossible to provide print release capabilities, because there is no association between users and print jobs.

With the new Imprivata Print Connector enabled, the OneSign Shared Kiosk Workstation provides a secondary user login that associates a Fully Qualified Domain Name with a print job.

So… even though print jobs are spooled under a generic name, OM Plus can now get a Fully Qualified Domain Name with the print jobs via our integration with the Imprivata Print Connector.

And… Fully Qualified Domain Names can be available through the OneSign Shared Kiosk Workstation mode for standard desktops or Citrix/VMware hosted environments.

Integrated Workflow for Front-end Shared Kiosk Printing

1. The Imprivata OneSign user taps their card to

authenticate, open their desktop/applications and print

a document to an enterprise print release queue

hosted on the OM Plus print server.

2. OM Plus securely holds the document on the print

server for later print release.

3. The user goes to a printer/MFD and taps their

proximity card on the card reader which sends the

card ID to OM Plus.

4. OM Plus queries the Imprivata OneSign Print

Connector API with the card ID and gets back the

authenticated FQDN user ID (Fully Qualified Domain

Name).

5. OM Plus then releases the document for that particular

user to the printer.

Back-end Printing Challenges

Some Electronic Medical Record (EMR) printing is done through a back-end Application Server hosted print experience. This is different than a Windows front-side client print experience and user names are not always easily available with these print jobs.

Where possible, OM Plus has created specific integrations with EMR applications to get the Application user name, and associate this with the spooled print job.

Sometimes the application user name is not the same as the Fully Qualified Domain Name normally associated with a user’s badge.

Via our integration, we are able to normalize the application user name with the Fully Qualified Domain Name so a user will get all of the jobs under their various application user names when they tap their badge.

Confidentiality and Compliance: Reduces the risk of confidential documents left laying around shared printers.

Mobility: Users can conveniently retrieve their jobs, on demand, at any enabled printer.

Cost: Can reduce print costs by 10-20% via fewer printers, pages, toner, power, cooling, space…

Security: Users are authenticated and only see their jobs. VDI Printer Mapping Issues: One enterprise print release

queue instead of mapping many workstations to printers Vendor Neutral: Works with basically any network printer Green Solution: reduces waste
