IMPORTED BORZOI Leekhoi Borzoi, owned by Balthi du Plessis from Pretoria in South Africa imported several dogs from the Dober-Kopp Kennel of Dr Ágnes Koppány in Hungary. It is one of the most successful kennels in Europe with numerous titles, including many World Winners and European champions over the years. Most imports to SA historically come from the United Kingdom - or predominantly English lines except for Ardagan dogs that were imported by Andrew Soine’s Sax-Colburg Kennel in the 1990’s and Russian/American lines represented by the Teltrishka Kennel. Lately, imports were also made from Poland, but presently there are no offspring. The Dober-Kopp dogs therefore cemented the European influence in South Africa. The first two imports by Batlhi du Plessis were Dober-Kopp “Magyar” Pató Pál Úr (Ivan / dog) and Dober-Kopp Black Mirage (Vicky / bitch) in 2004. (Photograph included).
