I N T R O D U C T I O N• Saudi manufacturing industry has been grown
significantly BUT the quality of the most of the products have not been improved.
• This OPENED THE DOOR FOR FOREIGN PRODUCTS to invade the local markets.
• Now it’s time to implement TQM to overcome such challenges in Saudi manufacturing industries.

O B J E C T I V E1. TO INVESTIGATE the current level of implementation of TQM.
2. TO FIND THE BARRIERS in implementing TQM in manufacturing
industries of the KSA.

F I N D I N G SSURVEY METHODOLOGY:• About 100 manufacturing companies were
selected.• Implemented on medium to large size
manufacturing companies.• Questionnaire was developed and distributed
to the selected participants .• The collected data were then analyzed using
statistical software such as SPSS.

What we found through some survey questions :
1. How to develop TQM CULTURE in the organizations of KSA?
• by developing and improving all the aspects of customers and supplier relations.
• assess them on regular basis.• practicing teamwork at all the levels of
organizations.• Educating and training employees to change their
attitude and behaviors.

2. WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO MAINTAIN QUALITY SUPPLIES?
• The survey found that 61% of the organizations have suppliers number ranging from 21-100.
• It is seen that most organizations interested to use relatively large number of suppliers to create a competition among the suppliers with a view to receive quality supplies.

3. The respondents have asked whether they have implemented any type of quality tools in
their organizations?
• the outcome showed that 95% respondents were implementing ISO9000 & few of them producing high quality products.
BUT• many of them are just holding quality
certificates but not implement it for a long period of time.

C O N C LU S I O N• They are doing it well but do not implement it
for a long period of time.
• They have lack of awareness as to the strategic importance of quality, lack of technical and management know-how.

POINTED OUT SOME BARRIERS
They don’t implement it for long period of time because :
• They think the amount of paperwork will increase.
• difficulties in controlling too many suppliers/subcontractors.
• They have to understand different terminologies used in the standards.
• need for full time quality manager will incearse.

L I M I TAT I O N S
• Because of time and cost constraints this investigation was conducted only in the Western region of the KSA.
• Selected very few organizations.
• This investigation only used MCQ type questionnaire for the survey.
