What are Composites?Composites are multifunctional material systems
that provide characteristics not obtainable from any discrete material. They are cohesive structures made by physically combining two or more compatible materials, different in composition and characteristics and sometimes in form.
It may also be defined as compound materials which differ from alloys by the fact that the individual components retain their characteristics but are so incorporated into the composite as to take advantage only of their attributes and not of their short coming, in order to obtain improved materials.

Elements Of CompositesMatrix – A good matrix should possess ability to
deform easily under applied load, transfer the load onto the fibres and evenly distributive stress concentration.
Reinforcement - The role of the reinforcement in a composite material is fundamentally one of increasing the mechanical properties of the neat resin system.
Interface – The interface is a bounding surface or zone where a discontinuity occurs, whether physical, mechanical, chemical etc.

Elements Used In TestsIn order to study the composite material of
Sugarcane Bagasse Fibre, following materials were selected.
1. Sugarcane Bagasse – The sugar cane bagasse is a residue widely generated in high proportions in the agro-industry. It is a fibrous residue of cane stalks left over after the crushing and extraction of juice from the sugar cane.
2. Portland Cement – It has lowest cost and wide availability in the market. It also have comparatively greater strength. So, it is the most versatile construction material in the world.

Elements Used In Tests3. Styrene Butadiene Rubber - It describes the
families of synthetic rubber derived from styrene and butadiene. This material has good abrasion resistance and good aging ability, when protected by additives.
Sample Preparation - Blended cement composites were prepared by mixing the Portland cement with bagasse fibres and SBR. With different weight percentages of S.B.R. 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21% to the weight of the mixture, respectively.

ConclusionThus, we can say that Sugarcane Bagasse
Composites are the very firm option for other composites.
As we can vary the tensile and impact strength of these composites by varying S.B.R. content, aspect ratio and density of sugarcane bagasse fibre, these can be used in various applications based on strength required.
So, it has very much wide scope in future.
