Wilson Language Training has been putting structured literacy into practice for more than 30 years.
By employing Wilson’s evidence-based instructional models, school districts, reading centers, and tutors can put together a powerful literacy action plan or sustainability plan that meets states’ rigorous college- and career-readiness standards, closes the reading gap for struggling students, and builds a solid foundation for beginning learners.
Achieving Literacy for LifeW I L S O N W O R K S®!
Why wait until there is a gap before we systematically teach them to read and spell?
Wilson Fundations® is designed to reduce the number of children who later need intervention by giving all kids a solid foundation. A 30-minute Fundations lesson ensures that the critical foundational skills for reading and spelling are taught daily.
With Wilson, the path to meeting literacy objectives is all mapped out. The
best way to achieve literacy is to identify the individual student need and then
implement the correct teaching strategy. We off er four literacy instructional models
for four distinct student populations. Each model is diff erent in practice, intensity,
and duration, but all have been designed to help students master the appropriate
level of literacy.
Fundations®, Just Words®, and the Wilson Reading System® allow teachers
to incorporate into their daily lessons what college- and career-readiness
standards and reading research indicate are critical for student success:
Phonemic Awareness, Alphabetic Principle, Decoding, Encoding (Spelling), Word
Analysis, Vocabulary Development, Sight Word Instruction, Fluency, Metacognition,
and Comprehension Strategies. Direct instruction in manuscript and cursive
handwriting is also included in Fundations.
When working with students who require more specialized instruction, an
increase in teacher proficiency is essential. With our emphasis on professional
learning, teachers can rely on Wilson for the support and resources they need.
Educators can feel confident that with Wilson they will see results. By employing
Wilson’s instructional models, school districts, reading centers, and tutors can put
together a powerful literacy action plan to close the reading gap for struggling
students, or build a solid foundation for beginning learners. By partnering with
Wilson, districts can develop eff ective plans to achieve proven program
implementation and sustainability.
How do you get literacy results?Match your students to the right reading program and give teachers the right level of support.

What can we do to help struggling beginning readers before they fall behind?
Wilson Fundations® is the type of instruction research calls for when the core reading program is just not enough. With small groups of students or one-to-one, Fundations is the right tool when you need to intervene early.
How can we expect them to read to learn if they haven’t yet learned to read?
The Wilson Just Words® curriculum gives individuals with word-level deficits a chance to become fluent, independent readers. A regularly scheduled Just Words class provides reading and spelling “basics” for older students.
Doesn’t everyone deserve a future fullof choices and opportunity?
The Wilson Reading System® works with even the most challenged reader. By providing intensive instruction in small groups or individually with a highly skilled teacher, reading and spelling success can be achieved.
