Notes In Spanish there are two simple past

tenses: the preterite and the imperfect. The preterite is used to state an action

that began and ended at a specific time in the past.

The imperfect is used to describe a habitual or repeated action in the past.

Notes In English, the preterite tense often

makes the verb end in “-ed.” For example, I walked to school this morning.

In English, the imperfect tense often translates into “was/were ______ing, “used to ______,” or “would (meaning used to) ________”. For example, I was walking to school, when a dog bit me. I used to work at the swimming pool. When I was young, I would tease my little sister.
