3PMAEF 2018 IMPACT REPORT
Dear Friends,I am pleased to share with you the annual report for fiscal year 2018. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and commitment to the Precision Metalforming Association Educational Foundation (PMAEF).
Like last year, this has been a year of change. Fortunately, one constant has been the Foundation’s dedication to supporting and developing training and education programs for the metalforming-industry.
We are proud to be the funding entity and driving force behind METALFORM EDU. In an effort to ensure continued growth and sustainability of the program, the board pledged additional support in the coming year and allocated additional funds for workforce development initiatives such as apprenticeships and the NIMS Skills Standards.
Other areas of focus include improving our granting and reporting processes; formalizing the relationship between PMAEF and PMA; and garnering additional support for the Campaign for Metalforming Talent.
Having completed my first year, I am humbled by your generosity and support, as well as the dedication of our board members. I am proud to be a part of such a close-knit community. Thank you!
Sincerely,
LETTERS FROM
LEADERSHIP
Dear Friends and Colleagues,I officially started my tenure as board chair on April 1, and would like to thank immediate past-chair Jeffrey Clark for his dedication and work guiding the board. Because of Jeff’s passion and support for the organization, we had a very successful year during a time of transition.
PMAEF continues to look for ways to support the industry and build awareness for metalforming careers, and to enhance the supply of skilled workers by supporting and developing training and education programs.
METALFORM EDU launched in the fall, and we are seeing positive results and a renewed interest in press operations and die setter training. In addition, hundreds of PMA member company employees have gained valuable technical and soft skill training. The foundation remains committed to the $1.3 million investment it has made to this worthwhile endeavor with PMA, and will continue to monitor and invest in meaningful projects that support our mission.
Other highlights from this year include strategic planning sessions that identified new priorities to support workforce development initiatives, and the addition of a new executive director, Nichol (Campana) Lopriore.
The board and I offer sincere gratitude to our donors, founding members, partners and all who have joined us in building enthusiasm for, and awareness of, careers in metalforming. We look forward to a strong and bright future.
Sincerely,
Nichol (Campana) Lopriore Executive Director, PMAEF
Erick Ajax Chairman of the Board

C4MC
The Center for Metalforming Careers (C4MC), center4metalformingcareers.org, provides industry resources that highlight metalforming as an outstanding career option. In 2018, the PMA Educational Foundation launched a redesigned C4MC website that houses free resources such as videos, tips and career brochures intended to help PMA members engage and attract new talent. In addition, there are new materials available to help your company promote and host successful MFG Day events.
MFG DAY 2018
Manufacturing Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing and encourages companies around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders. PMA members continue to join the movement and hosted plant tours, gave presentations and presented hands-on activities to help inspire the next generation of manufacturers.
PMA member companies are encouraged to utilize the resources on the Center 4 Metalforming Careers website, and to share your stories and pictures with us.

METALFORM EDU RecapTRAINING ANYTIME, ANYWHERE
The metalforming industry’s future depends on what we do today to ensure a skilled workforce for tomorrow. That reality drives what we do at the Precision Metalforming Association Educational Foundation (PMAEF). Since its inception, PMAEF has provided $2.5 million in grants, many of which have helped PMA focus on workforce development initiatives, including its largest training initiative to date: a $1.35 million investment, in collaboration with PMA, resulting in METALFORM EDU.
In 2017, PMA worked with PMAEF to find a content development partner, 180 Skills, to convert PMA’s existing training materials into an online learning experience. More than 500 courses were selected to pair with technical courses authored by PMA, which were packaged in licenses that offered companies access to a wide range of training materials.
METALFORM EDU officially launched in the fall of 2018, with
PMA facilitating several webinars and one-on-one demonstrations. Moreover, its presence at FABTECH and Forming Our Future, plus presentations at 12 district events, helped establish METALFORM EDU as a premier training resource.
In November 2018, a task force was convened to help steward the scope and direction of METALFORM EDU. The task force worked with PMA to create a business plan addressing the need for additional improvements to the LMS licensing and content options, as well as ways to improve the user experience, especially for the human resources and training managers whose needs differ from those of individual learners. An overall emphasis is being placed on improving the end-user experience.
To help customers better understand and identify the METALFORM EDU product that best fits their needs, a license calculator was created. Additionally, 32 PMA courses were translated into Spanish, with plans to launch a Spanish language version of METALFORM EDU in FY19.
In its first year of operation METALFORM EDU has trained 230 employees in 77 companies throughout 16 PMA Districts.
