Grace Yumi Choi, Director of Business and Publicity Grace Yumi Choi was born in 1987 in Pennsylvania USA and began studying the piano when she was 5 years old. Although very young, she demonstrated a tremendous interest in music. While being top 1% in academic performance at Seoul National University, She walked a successful career path as a pianist and a music director participating in numerous concerts and creating videos recently hit 25,000 views on YouTube. Throughout her years as an artist, she collaborated with some international musicians, producers and technologists to discover new channels and forms of arts to interact with audiences. She established her own Piano Trio, Karis, and Women’s Choir and directed a series of recitals called “Dream and Hope Concert”, playing for free for those who do not have opportunities to listen to classical music. At the same time, she was also on the distribution side studying business administration at NYU and working in cutting-edge media groups in New York, where she gained not only an extraordinary ability to understand artists and audiences but also problem solving skills and interpersonal tactics to promote their works effectively. She believes her experiences both as an artist and a pipeline between artist and audiences are relevant to the qualities society is looking for.

Ezra Teboul, Assistant Technical Director Ezra Teboul is a musician, fabricator, engineer and designer. He has served as technical director, coordinator or consult on a variety of multimedia art project, including a performance of HPSCHD at Eyebeam in NYC. Currently enrolled at both NYU-Poly and Steinhardt, he is studying how technology inspires art and art challenges technology. Additional interests include blacksmithing, bad movies, and good soundtracks. He currently plays guitar and writes pieces for Pig Roast, an improvised folk punk ensemble based in Northampton, Massachusetts. He obtained his B.A. from Hampshire College in 2011.

Naro Kim, Facilitator and Alumni Relations Naro Kim, a candidate for a Master's degree in Music Technology at the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development department, graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of music degree in Computer Music Composition in Korea. When she was a junior in 2011, she participated in IMPACT to broaden her artistic view and IMPACT greatly influenced her life. After attending IMPACT, She decided to go to NYU for her Master's degree and her dream came true last year. Before she started to study in New York, she worked as a multimedia designer, composer, educator, and audio technician in Korea, and a graphic/multimedia designer and educator in Australia. Last

20

winter she went to Uganda in East Africa to serve as a music teacher for children. She is currently building a motion sensing turntable for her thesis, while also working on an independent movie as a sound designer.

Mitchell Gustin, Teaching Assistant Mitchell Gustin is a pianist, composer, and performing artist. He is pursuing a BM in music composition at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. At a young age, Mitchell began composing at the piano. His passion for music has deepened throughout the years and has never failed in bringing him happiness. This past spring, he finished writing the score to a 12-minute short film and a piano solo work titled Yellow. He plans to continue his education in music at the graduate level once completing his Bachelors. Contemporary performance is another one of Mitchell’s passions. Whether he is performing in it, creating it, or viewing it, he always finds performance to be an insightful and thought provoking spectacle. In Seattle, Mitchell is actively involved as a volunteer at On the Boards—a contemporary performance space that hosts many national and

international artists involved in dance, music, theatre, and performance art. Mitchell’s participation in the IMPACT 2012 conference left him wanting more, and so, today he his thrilled to be back for another collaborative experience. He is excited for the new ways in which art will be created and talked about. He only hopes that he can be as helpful and inspiring as his teachers and mentors have been to him in the past. The Faculty of NYU IMPACT 2013, in recognition of Mitchell’s accomplishments as composer and multimedia artist, formally recognizes Mitchell’s contributions to IMPACT and the important teaching role he has undertaken with thoughtfulness and attention to the quality of the experience of participants.
