Abdul Hamid Chan Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Abdul Hamid Chan holds a Diploma in Dance from National Arts Academy (now National Academy of Arts, Culture, and Heritage – ASWARA), Bachelor Degree in Performing Arts (Drama), and Master of Arts (Performing Arts – Dance) both from University of Malaya. He is currently a dance lecturer at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, UPSI. Prior to this, he teaches Malay traditional dance at the Dance Department, University of Malaya. He is also an award-winning choreographer in local and international dance competitions. Affendi bin Hj. Ramli Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Affendi bin Hj. Ramli is a lecturer the Music Department, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. He is also an audio artist that had produced a number electroacoustic and commercial compositions. Ahmad Faudzi Bin Musib Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. [email protected] Dr. Ahmad Faudzi Musib graduated in Bachelor of Music (Music Synthesis) from Berklee College of Music Boston Massachusetts in 1990, Masters of Music (Electronic and Computer Music Emphasis) from University of Miami Coral Gables, Florida in 1992 and obtained his Ph.D. (Audio Field Recording and Sound Preservation) from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2015. His research is on Contextual Sound Preservation focusing mainly approaches to audio field recording that forms contextual sound preservation under present-day conditions of wide-spread electro-acoustic enforcement applied on musical instruments, which were traditionally played in rural and/or communal settings in its special sound environment. He has published many book chapters and scientific research articles in reputable national and international journals such as Journal of IASA (International Association of Sound and Audio-visual Archive), ICTM (International Council of Traditional Music) and MMJ (Malaysia Music Journal). He had lectured at Shanghai Conservatoire of Music, and Soochow University, Suzhou CHINA. Ahmad Munir Mahazair Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia [email protected] Ahmad Munir Mahzair is currently a violin lecturer at the UiTM Faculty of Music and heads the Bachelor of Music Performance Department. A well-qualified musician, Munir holds a Diploma in Music and a Bachelor in Music Performance from UiTM where he studied violin with Radzali Mustaffa and Mustafa Fuzer Nawi. He pursued his Master of Music Performance in the United States under several renowned violin Professors such as Stephen Miahky, Solomiya Ivakhiv and Dawn Wohn. He has

Munir regularly conducts masterclasses and violin coaching at the invitation of the Ocean Institute of Audio and Technology and Putrajaya Presint 16 Committee, to name a few. He also founded the Moon Air Quartet where he actively performs. Alia Farahin Abd Wahab Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia [email protected] Alia Farahin Abd Wahab is currently a music lecturer in the Faculty of Music, Universiti Teknologi MARA. She holds a master in music (performance) from the University of News South Wales, Australia. Her first degree is a Bachelor in Music Composition (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi MARA. She has been doing a lot of music arrangements since then for the orchestra and also performances throughout the years. Seindah Lautan was her first attempt at composing a Malaysian Art Song in the year 2016. This year, she managed to write her first song cycle with the theme "Malam" or Night. The poetry of this song cycle is written by Siti Hajar Aznam. The song cycles consist of 3 art songs; Sepi Malam, Irama Malam and Kala Malam. Cai Sin Tan Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Born in Kelantan in 1993, Tan Cai Sin started learning piano with Mr Andrew Lim when she was 6 years old. She passed her ABRSM Grade 8 examination at the age of 17 and achieved distinction for her ATCL (Associate of Trinity College, London) in the category of Recital Diploma. After completing STPM (Malaysian Higher School Certificate), she entered UPSI and received her Bachelor of Education (Music) in 2013, where she studied piano with Dr. Andrew Stewart Blackburn and Dr. Goh Yen Lin. In 2016, she received her recital diploma of LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London). She is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Performance under the supervision of Dr Goh Yen Lin and Dr Tham Horng Kent. Camellia Siti Maya Mohd Razali Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia [email protected] Camellia Mohamed Razali is currently a lecturer at the Music Department of Universiti Putra Malaysia, pursuing her PhD at the University of Bristol, under the supervision of Dr. Michael Ellison. Camellia Mohamed Razali’s music are inspired by Asian nuance and Western European music combined through transcultural contemporary ideas. Her interest in music composition lies in composing for contemporary acoustic orchestral, chamber and vocal music. Performances of her compositions at major international music festivals and concerts include Bristol New Music Festival, Contemporary Music Venture Concert Series and University of Bristol’s New Music Ensemble Concerts. Camellia Mohamed Razali has worked and collaborated with prestigious music ensembles and musicians namely, Ensemble Variances, Quatuor Bozzini, and New Music Ensemble. Since 2016, she has

Chayuti Tassanawongwara University of Malaya, Malaysia [email protected] Chayuti Tassanawongwara obtained bachelor's degree in Music Education at Srinakharinwirot University Bangkok Thailand. He is studying Master of Arts in Southeast Asian Studies at University of Malaya. Christine Augustine Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Christine Augustine has a Doctor of Education (EdD), Masters in Performing Arts (Music Education), Bachelor’s Degree of Education (Music), LTCL and ATCL (piano). Christine Augustine is currently a senior lecturer at the Music and Music Education Department, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Perak, Malaysia. She is a music educator who previously taught music in a private music school for five years. She has been an academic staff at the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris for more than 10 years. Christine’s research interests include music education, Instructional Leadership, music in preschool and music and literacy. She was formerly a church musician and also a violinist/violist in the Malacca Youth Orchestra. She also performed in the Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia Orchestra concerts at Istana Budaya and the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Clare Suet Ching Chan completed her PhD in Music (Ethnomusicology) from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa in 2010; Master of Arts (Ethnomusicology) in 2002 and Bachelor of Arts (Music) in 1998 at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship (2005-2007), the Asia–Pacific Graduate Fellowship in Ethnomusicology from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa (2005-2007), the East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship (2008-2010) and the Sumi Makey Scholars Award for Arts and Humanities (2008) for her PhD studies. Her research interest includes issues of identity, nationalism, tourism, globalisation and modernisation in the performing arts of Malaysia. Clare is currently the chief editor of the Malaysian Journal of Music (2015 onward). She served as the deputy dean of research and innovation from 2011 to 2017 at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim, Perak, Malaysia.

Colleen Wong Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Wong Huey Yi @ Colleen Wong is a music educator in the Department of Music and Music Education at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim, Perak. She holds a double music degree from the National Arts Academy and the University of Malaya (with distinction), and received her M.A in Performing Arts from the University of Malaya. Colleen completed her EdD specialising in Instructional Leadership under Nova Southeastern University, Florida. In addition to teaching, she is a regular gamelan player with Rhythm in Bronze (RIB) and has conducted workshops using Malay gamelan with both adults and children. Her passion towards educating school children in music has led her to undertaking significant research in this field. Elissa Miller-Kay Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, Thailand [email protected] Dr. Elissa Miller-Kay is a lecturer in Piano Performance and Musicology at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Bangkok, Thailand. Her principal research areas are Beethoven reception, nineteenth-century performance practices, and piano pedagogy. Recent performance engagements include Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor with the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra in Ontario, Canada and solo recitals at the Goethe Institute and Siam Ratchada Auditorium in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Miller-Kay holds degrees in Piano Performance from New York University (PhD), Mannes (MMus), and Oberlin College (BMus). Her research focuses on conflicts and teaching that resolves around women, children and youths in violent conflicts, community theatre performances and developmental community oriented projects in

Selama lebih sepuluh tahun sepanjang penglibatan beliau, Nadhilah telah merangkul pelbagai kejayaan antaranya ialah sebagai Pelakon dan Pengarah Terbaik di dalam pertandingan Festival Teater Malaysia. Pada tahun 2015, Nadhilah mewakili Malaysia ke Majlis Sastera Asia Tenggara yang telah diadakan di Indonesia. Nikolay Demerdzhiev graduated his Doctoral studies at the University of Music in Vienna with distinction. He also studied in Austria and graduated from the Graz Arts University in 2007 with two Masters Degrees in viola performance and music pedagogue. In 2008 he moved to Japan to teach viola and violin at the invitation of the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School of Utsunomiya. Nikolay returned to Austria in 2010 to complete his PhD at the University of Music in Vienna while continuing to teach at the Johann Sebastian Bach Musikschule Wien. As an experienced orchestral and chamber musician, he has performed with Maribor Philharmonic Orchestra (Slovenia), Macau Philharmonic Orchestra, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Raja Mohamad Alif is a music composition lecturer at Faculty of Music, University Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. He has acquired a Master of Music Degree from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK, majoring in music composition. Prior to that he studied at UiTM, graduating with a Vice Chancellors Award for his bachelor’s degree also in music composition. Throughout his career as an educator and composer, several of his compositions were performed by various professional performers from around the world including performers from Vietnam, Russia, United Kingdom, United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia. He has recently represented his country for the 34th Asian Composers League Young Composers Competition. His compositions are often based on Malaysian historical subjects and focuses on timbre to paint his sound world.

He has published six books throughout his career that includes "Tuan Guru" in 2007, "Perempuan Rusuk Dua" in 2009, "Guru Dane” in 2010, "Guru Onyeh" in 2011, "Kenari Mentaram" in 2013 and "Tuan Guru Umar Kelayu: Lombok Poros Makkah-Nusantara" in 2016. He was the best theater playwright for the national level in Indonesia in 2002 entitled "Putri Mandalika". At present he has published quite a number of writings in the media. Having had the opportunity to experience the cacophony of city life in both Kuala Lumpur and New York City, her interest lies in the study of urban soundscapes and its impact on the urban dwellers quality of life. Her current focus is on the analysis of spatiotemporal patterns and soundscape components of the urban acoustic environment, and its relation to the socio economic and racial/ethnic demography of metropolitan cities, with the hopes of improving the urbanites standard of living as well as to preserve its sonic heritage. Trained in Ballet, contemporary and traditional dance, she worked as fulltime dancer under the Petronas Performing Arts Group in 2009-2010 and work as academician under Sultan Idris Education University in 2010-2016. Siti Nur Hajarul Aswad Shakeeb Arsalaan Bajunid Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Siti Nur Hajarul Aswad’s enthusiasm as an educator and pianists involves an output in musical performances, compositions and music arrangement for solo piano, orchestra and small ensembles. Her wide variety of recent works in classical and popular music had brought her to perform in venues locally and internationally. Equally active in performing an assortment of works for solo piano and ensembles, she regularly performs as a pianist and a keyboardist. Siti Nur Hajarul Aswad divides her time as an academician and was previously the Co-ordinator of Music Performance at the UiTM Faculty of Music. Upon completion of her Masters degree from the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia, majoring in Western Classical Piano Performance, she had produced and co-produced successful concerts like the Music Rendezvous, Eximious and also presented her paper on pianism and improvisation at APSMER 2017 and 4th Rhythm Changes: Jazz Utopia 2016. Suflan Faidzal Arshad Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Suflan Faidzal Bin Arshad telah mula berkecimpung dalam seni persembahan sejak tahun 90an lagi. Beliau melanjutkan pelajaran dalam bidang seni muzik peringkat diploma hinggalah ke peringkat ijazah sarjana seni kreatif (MA) di Akademi Seni Kebangsaan dan ASWARA Kuala Lumpur. Melalui pengalaman yang dikumpul sewaktu berkhidmat di Kompleks Budaya Negara, beliau mengutip banyak pengalaman dengan membuat pelbagai persembahan pentas. Suppabhorn Suwanpakdee Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, Thailand [email protected] He currently works as an Assistant to the President for Student Affairs at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM) where he also is the project manager of the PYO (Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra). Suppabhorn has explored other musical paths such as experimental music and film music. He is a pioneer of Ensemble Music Makers, a collective proposing novel approaches to performance, experimenting with the interpretation of many musical styles, from classical music to new contemporary compositions. Suppabhorn has performed in several orchestras including Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, Bangkok Pro Musica. In 2008, Suppabhorn received Bachelor degree in music performance (first class honour) from Silpakorn University. Then he received master degree in performance at Mahidol University. Yen-Lin Goh Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia [email protected] Pianist Yen-Lin Goh has premiered numerous solo and chamber works in concerts and festivals across North America, Europe, Africa, and Malaysia. In 2015, she was invited as one of two musicians for the Brush Creek Arts Foundation residency in USA. Her other awards include the Tunisian/American Embassy Piano Fellowship that took her to Tunisia in 2009. A full scholarship recipient, Yen-Lin earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance with high honors from Oklahoma City University, USA, and subsequently received her Doctor of Musical Arts from Bowling Green State University, where she was awarded a full teaching assistantship. Beliau menamatkan pengajian di peringkat ijazah Sarjana dalam bidang pengajian Seni Kreatif yang mengkhusus kepada kajian teater tradisional Sabah dengan fokus terhadap masyarakat Bajau Laut di Daerah Semporna. Kini beliau, berkhidmat sebagai tutor dalam Program Teater di Fakulti yang sama dan bergiat aktif dalam persatuan teater universiti serta menyandang jawatan tertinggi dalam Sabah Theater, Art’s and Management (STAGE) sebuah organisasi badan bukan kerajaan yang bergiat aktif di Sabah. She finished her Graduate Degree in French Department at Universitas Gadjah Mada, and her Postgraduate Degree in Theatre and Film Studies at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, Australia. She also completed her Doctoral Degree of Performing Arts at Universitas Gadjah Mada. Currently Senior Professor at Theatre Department, Faculty of Performing Art, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. She is also Artistic Director of the Yogyakarta Woman Theatre. She works as a play interpreter from English and French version to Indonesian language. She has researched several actual problems based on traditional theatre in Indonesia. She has directed for all plays produced by Yogyakarta Woman Theatre. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Pedagogy with emphasis in Performance and Musical Research at the University of South Carolina. She has presented, taught, performed and accompanied in the US, Japan and Malaysia. She has also conducted research on the development of teaching strategies in piano using Comprehensive Musicianship through Performances. Dr. Yoshioka is a founder of the Community Music Program in School of the Arts, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She is currently an adjunct music faculty in USM and is maintaining a very active involvement in the music community as a part time music lecturer, clinician, presenter, performer, presenting at seminars and guiding potential young pianist p in Penang, Malaysia.
