A great saving on such items as pants and skorts. These items will be FINAL SALE (no refunds or exchanges). Hurry in while supplies last! The Uniforms Shop will be open 3:00-5:00PM, March 14. Charitable Receipts for TuiBon Charitable receipts may be issued for a por:on of the Kindergarten to Grade 8 tui:on fees that are in excess of the pro-rated “cost per child” calcula:on. These receipts were ready to be picked up from the school office at the end of February. Receipts not picked up by 4:00PM, February 28 were mailed out on March 1. Sadochok fees are considered childcare and are therefore not eligible for a charitable receipt. Before and Aber School Program Fees are also considered a child care expense and not eligible for a charitable receipt. Calendar Planning - The Annual Fund Raising Dinner ‘Passport to Travel the World’ is on Saturday, March 10, 2018. - Spring Break is March 26 - March 30, 2018. Classes resume on Monday, April 3 aber Spring Break. - Holy Week is March 26 - 30. Good Friday is March 30 (no classes). Easter Monday is April 2 (no classes). - Last day of classes before Summer Break is June 28. Before and AHer School Program Fees A reminder to all families who use the Before and Aber School Program service ... all outstanding fees were due (up to the end of January, 2018) by Wednesday, February 21. Before and Aber School Fees can be paid at the school office by cash, cheque, debit card or credit card. Term Two Progress Reports & Parent/Teacher Conferences Second term report cards will be issued on Friday, March 9. Parent / Teacher Conferences for the second term are through appointment. If you wish to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher(s) please call 204-582-5698 to make an appointment. Provincial Middle Years Assessment The Manitoba Department of Educa:on facilitates a provincial assessment for all grades 7 and 8 students. As part of the Middle Years Assessment, IHM School will report to parents on the achievement levels of Grade 7 and Grade 8 children in certain key competencies (important skills). Students’ performance will be compared to mid- grade provincial criteria in certain areas (competencies) of mathema:cs at Grade 7, and in reading and wri:ng at Grade 8. In addi:on, at Grade 7 there will be a report on students’ involvement with their learning (student engagement). For the Middle Years Assessment there is not a specific provincial test students write. Teachers regularly observe students and discuss their achievement with them, and use the informa:on to help children learn. Teachers will also use the informa:on collected this way to prepare the required reports. The Middle Years Assessment reports will be included with the 2nd Term Progress Reports. These Reports are one of several ways IHM School communicates with parents on their child’s progress. Fund Raising Dinner Volunteers - each ‘volunteer’ family will be required to assist at one shib for the IHMS Annual Fund Raising Dinner. Volunteer signups were sent home on February 13. - no:ces will be sent home on Friday, March 3 confirming the volunteer shib. - families that did not reply, or replied late, on the Fund Raising Dinner Volunteer Form will be assigned a shib. - thank you in advance for your assistance! IHMS Parents’ Guild MeeBng The next mee:ng of the Parents’ Guild will be on Thursday, March 8 at 7:00 PM. A child care service is provided free of charge for parents that will be bringing their children. Kindergarten Class ... extra days The Kindergarten class will aoend on two extra days during the month of March. This extra :me will be spent preparing them for their par:cipa:on in the Ukrainian Concert. The two extra days the Kindergarten class will aoend are March 20 and 22. Nursery / Sadochok Classes The last day of classes for the Sadochok class prior to the Spring Break will be Thursday, March 15. Sadochok returns to classes on Tuesday, April 3. Onegroupthatdoesn’tpar:cipateintheOlympicGamesarepeoplewithanintellectualorlearningdisability.Thatmeansthatsomepeoplehaveaveryhard:melearning.SpecialOlympicsManitobaisdedicatedtoenrichingthelivesofManitobanswithintellectualdisabili:esthroughsport.TheSpecialOlympicsstartedin1968inChicago.Sincethen,theSpecialOlympicshavegrowntremendously.WehaveaSpecialOlympicscommunityrighthereinWinnipeg,Manitoba.Thereare1,050athletesand332coachesthatvolunteertheir:metotrainthesespecialathletes.
