Bike safety Actions for your bike security :
A photo of each athlete with his/her bike will be taken at the Check-in.At the Check-out after the race, the photo will verify the legal owner of the bike.Transition Area will be under video-monitoring at all times.
Please help us to keep an eye on suspect situations regarding theft of bikes report to the security staff!
In the past, bikes have been stolen OUTSIDE of the transition area.Be careful and do not leave your bike alone, always lock it or keep an eye on it!

Each athlete is responsible for his/her own intermediate and end time registration.
The timing chip must be worn throughout the entire race around the ankle.

Caution: do NOT put anything necessary for the race (ex : 2nd race number, swim cap,...).
You will pick your STREETWEAR bag up after the FinishLine, so you can wear clean clothes after the race.

- on race day from 5:00 am to 6:15 am.
- opposite to the Finishline.
Personal Aid stations Deposit your special needs bags:
Sunday morning from 5:00 am to 6:00 am. Before the entrance of the Bike park.
Warning! The bags will be thrown after the race, you will not get it back. Only put your food supplies in these bags !
5:00 am – 6:00 am Enter in the Bike Park (to the East side, like at the Check In).
Check the pressure of your tires. Toilets in the Bike park. You must exit of the Bike park at 6:00 am! Do NOT leave anything in the Park.
6:00 am – 6:15 amSWIM Start
Go to the start on the beach. Wear your swimcap with the number on the left. Place yourself in the start section corresponding to your
estimated swim time (the slowest on the sides). Warm up in front of the start. End: 6:15 am. Sandals/shoes are not allowed in the start area.

Cutoff Time: 2h15 after the start (8.45 AM).
SWIM Rules Do not swim with your start number.
Official Swim caps provided by the organizer MUST be worn.
It is permitted to swim in a wet-suit up to a water temperature 24°C. In case it is forbidden to swim in a wet-suit, the athletes may only wear a swim suit with FINA certification. Wearing more than one swim suit is forbidden.
The wetsuit must be taken off only in the transition tent.
It‘s not permitted to wear socks or gloves during the SWIM.
The wetsuit must not be completely removed before the transition area.
TRANSITION 1 SWIM BIKE
Pick up your BIKE bag.Change yourself inside the tent. If you have to undress completely make it
into the transition tent, otherwise you can change outside!
You must put your swim equipment in your BIKE bagWhen leaving the tent, dropoff your bag in the DROP
ZONE.

Close the chinstrap of your helmet.
Pick up your bike.
Push it to the exit.
You get on your bike once you’ve left the Bike Park.

BIKE 180 km
One lap.1800 m climbing altitude.8 aid stations > approximately one every 20 km.1 personal aid station at km 70.
Advices: take your energy gels with you if you need them on the bike.
Cutoff Time : 10h45 after the start (5:15pm) You have to join the "St Barnabé" point (118.70 km BIKE) before 3:10 pm
BIKE rules On Sunday morning, modifications on your wheels are
forbidden. You must constantly wear your helmet with the chinstrap
closed. The race number must be visibly worn on your lower back. Respect the traffic rules. Ride on the right, do not cut the corners. Escorting (car, motorbike, bike,...) and assistance are
forbidden. Respect the drafting zone. Do not block the road to a competitor. Always ride on the far right of the right lane of the road.
NO DRAFTING The distance between two athletes (Drafting zone) is 7m
(front tyre to back tyre).
If you enter in this zone, you will receive a black card = 6 min in penalty box.
You must mandatory stop to the next penalty box to do your penalty. The marshal will mark your race number.
If you do not go to the penalty box: The first time, you receive a penalty of 10 minutes. The second time, you are disqualified.

TOURRETTES SUR LOUP | Km 40 Crossing of a picturesque village of Nice’s Hinterland / Car Park.
08.15 am 10.45 amAccess by Vence D2210A Tourrettes sur Loup (be carefull : please respect diversions).

CHATEAUNEUF | Km 55 This point is located at the middle of the climb to the “Col de l’Ecre” (Ecre pass) just before the junction to Gourdon / car park and ideal location to see the athletes in a hair-pin bend which looks like “Alpes d’Huez” .
8.45 am 11.30 amAccess by motorway Exit “Villeneuve Loubet” Le Rouret Chateauneuf.
GOURDON | Km 62 Elected “one of the most beautiful French villages” various times, exceptional place to see the athletes suffering at 7 kms from the Col de l’Ecre / Terrace bar boarding the race / Easy to park the cars / Athletes are spaced out.
9.00 am 12.00 amAccess by motorway Exit “Cagnes-sur-Mer” La Colle sur Loup road of the “Gorges du Loup” in direction of Greolière Road closed at Pont du Loup, cross in direction of Gorges de Bramafan Gréolières junction on the left in direction of Gourdon..

GREOLIERES | Km 100 Hinterland and Pre-Alps picturesque village / Animation of the village festival committee for a pleasant party / close to an aid station / Easy to park the cars.
10.00 am 2.00 pmAccess by motorway Exit “Cagnes sur Mer” La Colle sur Loup route des Gorges du Loup in direction of Greolières Road closed at Pont du Loup, cross in direction of Gorges de Bramafan Gréolières Gréolières (Be careful : you must arrive before the first bikers).
COL DE VENCE – ST BARNABE | Km 115 U-turn / ideal place to see the athletes going slowly in both senses / easy to access and car park regulated.
10.30 am 2.45 pmAccess by motorway Exit “Cagnes sur Mer” Vence Col de Vence.
CARROS VILLAGE | Km 145 At the bottom the village / the athletes cross a technical and difficult bend / close to the end, they need encouragements.
11.15 am 4.00 pmAccess by RN 202bis Carros Carros by the “Route de la Baronne” (Baronne ‘s Road) (D 2209).

GATTIERES | Km 150 Village crossed round-trip by the athletes / animation / athletes closed to the arrival need to be encouraged / important commitment of the inhabitants to welcome the IRONMAN.
11.20 am 4.00 pmAccess by RN 202 bis Carros Gattières.
LA GAUDE – LA BARONNE | Km 165 Last aid station of the race / Animation / 20 km from the arrival, the most difficult moment for the athletes who will need your encouragements.
11.45 am 4.30 pmAccess by St Laurent du Var Carros by the « Route de la Baronne » (D2209).
BE CAREFUL Wherever you go, please plan your arrival to the different places 30 min before the first athletes arrive, to not be in the athletes’ way and to access more easily. The bike circuit is located in a NATURA 2000 area and its environment is fragile. Please respect the ONF rules about car-park areas, harmful noises and wastes : keep them with you and throw them to dedicated areas
BIKE 180 kmA “sweeper bus“ will indicate the ‘‘last possible finisher“
position on the bike course. You have to join the "St Barnabe" point before 3:10 pm. The driver will take your start number.
Then you have two possibilities: Take the bus to return to Nice with your bike. Finish the bike course under your own responsibility (roads will be
open to the public traffic).

ECO ZONESThrow away your bike bottles and packaging only in the
Eco Zones at the beginning and at the end of each aid station BIKE and RUN.
Otherwise you will receive a penalty.
Dismount your bike before entering in the Bike Park.Give your bike to the volunteer waiting for you in front of
an empty rack.He will park the bike for you in order of arrival.Take your RUN bag, change in the tent if you need to
undress completely.Put your bike equipment in the bag and drop it off in the
DROPOFF zone when leaving the tent.Start your marathon!
TRANSITION 2 BIKE RUN
Your RUN bag is not here? If your RUN bag is not on the rack, it means that you
have received a penalty during the BIKE.
Go to the Penalty box and wait until the end of your penalty (countdown starts once you stop discussing with the marshalls).
The Penalty box is located at the entry of the tent.
After your penalty, you can change and start your marathon.
RUN42,195 km,
Promenade des Anglais
RUN 42.195 km 4 laps on the Promenade des Anglais.One aid station every 1.7 km.Get your wristband (“chouchou“) at the end of each loop.
If “chouchous” are distributed at each end
of the loop to prove that the athletes passed
the different loops; it's the athlete responsibility
to ensure he collects the bands himself.
Before entering the finish line, the athlete must
have collected 3 “chouchous”
(no “chouchou” for the fourth loop).
Cut off Time: 16h00 after the start (10:30 pm).
RUN Rules Wear the race number visibly at your front.
If you use a start number belt, the start number have to be secured in three points minimum and positioned at waist level.
The athlete must have a racing suit in conformity (do not run naked torso, tri-function can only be opened till the lower sternum and keep the straps on the shoulders, ...).
Escorting (bike, roller, runner, ...) and assistance are forbidden.

General rulesIt is forbidden to:Cut or fold your start number.Use a walkman, iPod, mobile phone etc … Get help from a third.Get race provisions outside of the official aid stations
including for the personal aid station.(For the bike personal aid station, you must stop the bike and take only the contents of your bag!)
Throw your wastes and bottles inside of Eco zones BIKE and RUN.
Penalties= warning (get back into conformity)
= 6 minutes penalty in Prison => in case of drafting
= disqualification

PenaltiesA penalty will be delivered by the marshal by :
Whistling. shouting the start number of the athlete. shouting the fault done by the athlete. showing the penalty card (yellow, black or red).
You are responsible to notice a penalty:
(There is NO excuse like “I didn‘t hear anything“!)
You have to stop at the next penalty box.
General rulesA referee‘s decision is the final decision!
Protests: The protest must be filed in English or French and
must describe the reason of the reclamation. You have to deposit a € 50 protest-fee. Protest must be submitted until Monday, 27th of June,
9.30 am at the organization office.

Persons directly affected by a sanction have the right to file a protest. It is possible to file a protest against a disqualification, an immediate disqualification or the official race results.
Each athlete have to respect all the rules of the organization and be respectful of the marshals, the volunteers and the organization staff.
EnvironmentProtection

Ironman France has adopted a proactive and eco-friendly approach of the race.
This simply means that throwing the wastes on the course in other zones than
Eco Zones will not be tolerated.
Marshalls will be specifically targeting offenders and penalties will be applied.
So whatever you take out on the course please bring it back with you till
the transition area or throw it in the Eco Zones.
Thank you to respect the local villages of Nice hinterland which hosts the
Ironman France and offers you a beautiful bike course.
Eco Friendly Race course
As Ironman France competitor, You HAVE to respect the following rules:
The start of the swim on the beach must be taken barefoot: sandals, flip-flops, etc are forbidden.
Do not throw (gels, papers, bottles, cups) outside of the ECO ZONES!
Failure to respect this rule will be punished by :
- a red card if the action is done intentionally.
- a yellow card if the action can be repaired.
Throw your waste in the areas provided by the organization and leave the placesas clean as possible on all sites of the event (race course, Expo Villageenergy Party, ..).
What if... Lost timing chip
Abandon
If ever...You lose your timing chip, you can pick up a new one at
the penalty box (transition tent).
You need to give up, let a referee know you have given up. Your family might ask us at the Info booth - you must tell us what happened.
Wait for the “sweeper bus” to take you back to Nice.
