What is IMF?

• Its an organization of 188 countries (as of April 2012), working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty.

• Countries contribute money to a pool through a quota system from which countries with payment imbalances can borrow funds temporarily.

• A private organizations that pursue activities to relieve suffering, promote the interests of the poor, protect the environment, provide basic social services, or undertake community development

• The both have the same mission, bit INGO has it in an international scope.

Criteria

• The NGO must support and respect the principles of the Charter of the United Nations

• Must be of recognized national or international standing

• Should operate solely on a not-for-profit basis and have tax-exempt status

• Enlisting the attention of the media
