All three female on this poster are dressed in t shirts and jeans. There body stance suggests they’re prepared for fighting/conflict. Also they look as if they are apart of the gang, which is something different compared to how females are represented in other films. They did this because they want to reach out and gain more female audience members.

The guys in this poster are all looking serious and they look ready for action. This poster attempts to reach out to males by having cars and a man with body armour on. This suggests that there will be car races and possibly chases involved. Also it suggests that there will be action with armed weapons as the man has body armour on.

This appeals to males because guys love an action packed film, with conflict and mystery behind it. Also the colours which are used are not colours which girls are associated with. For example the red car could represent danger as the colour red is usually associated with danger and conflict.

The ratings on this film is extremely surprising because 27.1% of females rated it 10. Also another surprising result is the fact that on average females voted for it higher then males.

One factor which could have contributed to this is the fact that a lot of females watched this film because they find the men in it attractive. Whereas males watch it for the story line and the action.

This poster is constructed to appeal to females. For example, the color of the title is purple/pink, both these colors are usually associated with girls. Most boys would not be attracted to these colors. Another way it appeals to females is that the poster only contains females. This encourages girls to watch it as they may be able to relate to the situations, also they might find the film more enjoyable.

The tag line suggests the 3 girls are the popular girls and that they can’t be trusted. The girl in red is the one who seems to be less, popular and more reserved by the look of how she’s dressed. This appeals to girls and especially teen girls as they can relate to these situations, because females are associated with bitterness and back chatting.

The fact that the girl in red is having to look behind her back at the girls behind her suggests that there may be conflict between the girl in red and the girls in the skirt. Also it suggests that the girls in skirts have more power as there are 3 of them against the 1 one girl in red.

22.3% of girl rated it a 10, clearly females liked it better, this is understandable as the film is a so called ‘’chick flick’’ which mostly females are in to.

Also there are more males active on imdb, if there was the same amount of females active, the average for female ratings would be higher.

Only 12% of males gave it a rating of 10. This is a huge difference in comparisons to the females. 28.4% of males rated it a 7, meaning they did not enjoy it nearly as much as females.

This is understandable as the film was aimed at females, so the results of the votes is no surprise.
