Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival of Santa Mariada Feira is continually reinventing itself, in a context that provokesinnovation and stimulates contemporary artistic creation. In its18th edition, Imaginarius becomes a space that is open to all,looking towards our roots and the origins of street arts, yet alignedwith the creative maximization of public space and internationalrelations.

A challenge for all ages, an agent of education through art, anopportunity platform for emerging artists, a meeting place. Imaginarius(re) affirms itself as the space for street arts in Portugal, in amultigenerational context, boosting social and artistic ties, whilealso generating conditions for the active development of newcreative approaches.

The programme of this edition, defies our limits, making room fora parade of adventures and incidents of our times. In a uniquecontext of misfortune and wonder, the eternal reflection on oursocial state (re) affirms itself as a reason for being and a stimulusto creativity. The programme's alignment mixes different moods,contrasts opinions, antagonizes everyday life, questions itself...and us. A story about the adventure of a man, who, whiletrying to sail home after the war in Troy, got lostin the sea. Odysseus, a man of strength andanger, longs for the tranquillity of his home. Alongthe way he will face monsters, resist temptations,control his desires and be ignorant in theunderworld. His crew members are dead andhis ship is damaged. With the help of his guide,Athena, he survives the destructive forces ofPoseidon and returns home wearing just rags,albeit much wiser.Theater Gajes presents, in world premiere, a newcreation where giant machines become scenicobjects, bursting into the audience's space andturning those present into an essential link of theplot.

What if, through fiction, we could reach thisplanet that would save mankind? Would we beable to create a new society? Would we avoidthe mistakes we made in our history? HANNO is a performance based on the decayof a relationship. In a hyperrealistic universe, thespectator is invited to invade the private spaceof a couple during a banal action of their dailylife, defiled by mental and physical tension. Fromthis atmosphere comes a new reality where thecharacters emerge from within themselves andintensify the nightmare they are experiencing, ina cathartic therapy where anger and anguish isdischarged into the other. Um workshop sem regras pre-determinadas, um exercício de liberdadee provocação.The artistic team of the HANNO project opensthe doors of their artistic residency for a workshopfor sharing knowledge and techniques with thecommunity. This space of training and mediationis open to all, without prior technical or artisticrequirements, capable of approaching the crossbetween different disciplines for the developmentof new artistic approaches, not forgetting theconnection to dramaturgy that characterizes thisproject. This workshop, without any predeterminedrules, is an exercise in freedom and provocation.

Theater Gajes is a Dutch street theatre companythat has developed its very own artisticmethodology, using mobile scenic structures thatpropel their shows. The company will conductan artistic residence in Santa Maria da Feira forthe conclusion of its new project, Odyssee, whichwill premiere at the Imaginarius festival, andintends to involve a group of local amateur actorsin a dynamic workshop that will lead them to getacquainted with the company's techniques anddevelop the specific actions of a group of outsideactors that will integrate the show's tourperformances. In addition to the training andpractical activities, participants will also play acentral role in the performances of Odyssee atthe Imaginarius festival.

MUNDO WORLD IMAGINARIUS

O Imaginarius OFF é uma secção do Festivalque cede espaço aos artistas de rua interes-sados em divulgar o seu trabalho num am-biente de festival, sem integração na progra-mação oficial. A direção do Imaginariusdefiniu um número limitado de locais deapresentação para artistas de rua autóno-mos no que às necessidades técnicas elogísticas diz respeito. A organização cederáapenas um ponto de corrente elétrica, emespaços selecionados do recinto do festival.Para cada um destes espaços será definidoum cronograma de possibilidades de utiliza-ção, em intervalos de 60 minutos. Os artistasinteressados poderão pré-reservar até 2apresentações por dia, através de e-mail.No caso de existir disponibilidade de espaço,poderão ser agendadas no próprio dia maisapresentações.Imaginarius OFF is a section of the Festival thatgives space to street artists interested in promotingtheir work in a festival environment, without takingpart in the official programme. The Imaginariusmanagement will define a limited number ofpresentation sites for autonomous street artistsas far as technical and logistical needs are concerned.The organization will provide only an electricaloutlet in selected spaces of the festival venue.For each of these spaces a schedule of usagepossibilities will be defined, in 60-minute intervals.Interested artists can pre-book up to two presentationsper day via email. Symphonic TracksEuropean Educational Training é a designa-ção que melhor traduz a ideologia e objetivosa médio prazo do projeto que, no ano 2018,apresenta no festival Imaginarius um con-certo original, a partir da experiência dosprimeiros meses de evolução do projeto.

Pinocchio Joins the Orchestra (on S.T.R.E.E.T.)is a European cooperation project with a strongcharacter of social cohesion that unites streetorchestras with a view to developing a broadproject to create skills and connections. SymphonicTracks European Educational Training was fitlynamed to translate the project's ideology andmedium-term objectives, and in 2018 it willperform an original concert at the Imaginariusfestival, based on the experience of the project'sfirst months of evolution.
