Agency Presentation
How it all beganMy name is Iurnan Mungan SMITE.
I was born at the end of the year 1917, in village with a rich history, 76 miles outside Edinburgh, Scotland. The name of the village is
Kirkmichael and it means “St. Michael’s Church”.My father was a respected blacksmith, as his father was before
him, while my mother was a dressmaker, well known for her skills. We always wondered where I got my talents from...
As I was entering my 16’Th year of life, a dream was shaping in my head: to reach London. And I did…after 3 years!
I finally got a job as a delivering boy for “The Financial Times” to the rich and powerful, door by door, as was the custom in those
times.
How it all beganAfter a while, my boss asked me if I knew other youngsters willing to
make some extra money. I didn’t think twice and I said in a breath: “Yes!” But with one condition: to have me coordinating all of them.
In one year I had my own team of 25 lads in all of London. Three years after, here I was running my very own firm of delivery boys. With 75 boys and 3 door-to-door distribution contracts, everything was
going smooth as butter.One day, one of the newspaper bosses called me. Once there, he asked
me if I could handle the organization of a public event. The hell if I could not. But with one condition: to write an article about my
business in his newspaper.
How it all began
And so, IM Smite became something else. It became an agency. Over the years, we had over 45 clients and
quite a bunch of lads and lasses that bent their elbows on my desks.
But, as all things have to end, I died in the spring of 1969 at the age of 52, without someone to carry on
my name.
