    What Is a Thin Client?

A thin client is typically a hardware terminal.

Thin clients are low cost and designed to be

    centrally managed.

Thin clients are designed not to be

    customized by the user.

Thin client devices use View thin client

software and can be configured so that the

only application that users can launch

directly on the device is View Thin Client.

Repurposing a legacy PC into a thin client

desktop can extend the life of the hardware

    by three to five years.

    Virtual Printing Feature

The virtual printing feature allows end users to

use local or network printers from a View

desktop without requiring that additional printdrivers be installed in the View desktop.

You can set preferences for data

    compression, print quality, doublesided

    printing, color, and so on.

After a printer is added on the local computer,View adds that printer to the list of available

    printers on the View desktop.

    View Transfer Server Repository

View Transfer Server uses theTransfer Server repository tostore View Composer base

    images in an accessibledatastore.

Before a linked-clone desktopcan be checked out, the base

image must be published to therepository.

Image files are stored asencrypted packages.

At the first checkout of a linkedclone, View Transfer Server:

Downloads the base image fromthe repository to the local

    computer.

Downloads the remote linked-clone desktop, which consists ofthe system delta disk and the

    persistent disk.

    When you run linked-clone

    desktops in the datacenter, the

    linked clones share access to

    one base image, the replica.

    When you run a linked-clone

desktop in local mode, a read-only copy of the base image

    must reside with the linked-clone

    desktop on the local computer.
