Happenings

Continuing an annual tradition, a Go Green Christmas tree made of recycled bottles has been made and displayed at the resort lobby, bedecked with red, gold and silver ornaments. Long before Christmas, our associates have been busy salvaging mineral water bottles from guest rooms and meeting rooms to make the decorations. The concept of decorating the resort lobby with recycled materials was adopted by the resort in an effort to go green and to encourage reducing, reusing and recycling in creative ways. The effort of stringing together these plastic bottles to create the ‘green’ Christmas tree measuring 8 feet in height took about 8 days to put together.

In addition to the Go Green effort, the resort is also collecting “Ring Pulls” to help the Prosthesis Foundation in Thailand. About 3, 000 ring pulls are required to make one artificial limb from recycled aluminium, which is light and rust-free. Ring Pull bowls have been placed in various places such as the food and beverage outlets in order for staffs and public to drop off the ring pulls.

“Corporate sustainability is a key priority to the resort and we are indeed proud to receive this accolade, as a testament of this commitment,” said Mr Ronald Choong, Resort’s General Manager. “At Philea Resort and Spa, everyone has a role to play in saving the Earth and we will forge on with our dedication to environmental conservation whilst ensuring the guest experience remains uncompromised.”
