Dan Leedy presented the Court with two sets of original petitions, one for caftle,and one for horses, hogs, sheep or goats. He said that the Secretary of State'soffice suggested having two separate petitions, since these ome under differentsections of the Agricultural Code. He explained that the stock law would beanothor tool that the Sheriffs Department could use to try to control animalsrunning on the streets and roads in the county. lf the stock law passes, thesheriffs department would be able to write a ticket to the owners of animals whoknowlngly let their animals run at large. The Stock Law would be put on theballot for the May 1, 1999 election, the same time as the Unit Road System,

Judge Bilski announced that Congressman Kevin Brady is scheduled to be at theAustin County Courthouse on Tuesday, March 30 for a briefing regardingdecreased medicare/medicaid reimbursements.

Discussed evaluation of HGAC waste tire collection and disposal program.

Revlewed the letter from the Texas Department of Transportation, regarding thecertified mileage of the County Road Inventory Project. lf there any problems,

the County has 30 days in which to request a review.

Reminder that the Commissioneis Court will be meeting on Friday, March 19,

Judge Bilski said that the County received the notice from the Appraisal Districton the overpayment that the County has to send back to Lone Star. She statedthat it may be better to take the money out of the General Fund, instead of theRoad and Bridge accounts.

Sheriff Burger updated the Court on the radio tower at the Sheriffs Office. Hesaid that John Hill, of Trico Tower Company, told him that after the tower is takendown, the top section of the tower could be used to put up an 8O-foot tower. Hesaid that the antenna used by Road and Bridge would have to be moved to adifferent location, but that San Bernard Electric has agreed to hang the antennaon their tower.

Judge Bilski told the Court that Sheriff Burger has agreed to let jail trustees takecare of the Courthouse lawn.

Discussed acquiring used truck to transport trustees.
