  • A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth,back and forth, back and forth.And while she held him, she sang: Ill love you forever, Ill like you for always, As long as Im living my baby youll be.

  • The baby grew. He grew and he grewand he grew. He grew until hewas two years old, and he ran all aroundthe house. He pulled all the books off theshelves. He pulled all the foodout of the refrigerator and he took hismother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say,"This kid is driving me CRAZY!"

  • But at night time, when that two-year-oldwas quiet, she opened the doorto his room, crawled across the floor,looked up over the side of his bed;and if he was really asleep she pickedhim up and rocked him back and forth,back and forth, back and forth.While she rocked him, she sang: Ill love you forever, Ill like you for always, As long as Im living my baby youll be.

  • The little boy grew. He grew and he grewand he grew. He grew until he was nine yearsold. And he never wanted to come in fordinner, he nev er wanted to take a bath,and when grandma visited he alwayssaid bad words. Sometimes his motherwanted to sell him to the zoo!

  • The boy grew. He grew and hegrew and he grew. He grew until he wasa teenager. He had strange friendsand he wore strange clothes and helistened to strange music.Sometimes his mother felt like shewas in zoo!
