BACKGROUND INFO & CHALLENGES

Ike Skelton initially issued a request for proposal (RFP) for a solar project that met the power generation needs they had for their facility. EnergyLink bid for the project and was able to secure the privilege to work on it.

The facility is located in a classified location in Jefferson City, Missouri. It was a great candidate for solar, as its roof had great sun exposure.

This was EnergyLink’s first foray into working with a government entity on a renewable energy project, so our team learned the ins and outs of how that process works and how to wade through it to get the job done.

The solar installation did not present much of a challenge because the EnergyLink team has experience with installing solar on all types of roofs in many orientations and tilts.

The scope of the project was very straightforward; only a rooftop solar array was installed on Ike Skelton’s facility.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

THE CHALLENGE

PROJECT SCOPE

• Ike Skelton is a National Guard facility located in a classified location in Jefferson City, MO.

• This solar project came about as a request for proposal (RFP)

• The biggest challenge with this project was dealing with the process of working with a government entity for the first time.

• The scope of the project only included a rooftop solar array.

Rooftop Solar Arrays Installed - A 80 kW rooftop solar array was installed by EnergyLink’s construction team on Ike Skelton’s building at the perfect angle to get maximum exposure to the sun at key moments in the day. To accommodate for their small roof size, a dual-tilt option was used to mount the panels to their roof.

The specific panels used were 320W S-Energy Panels, which were linked to Fronius Symo 15-208 inverters using PV wiring and Iron Ridge Flush Mount racking.

As an additional service to the National Guard, EnergyLink provided a Year 2-5 Metering and Verification Service Agreement, which involves the EnergyLink team monitoring the solar array’s performance over time on Ike Skelton facility.

EnergyLink’s process to complete the project had several key steps of note. They include:

1. Initial phase: Energy audit & building history review.2. Engineering phase: where our expert engineers worked to design

practical, cost-effective systems tailored to the facility.3. Financing phase: where our financing team collaborated the

management team to fund the project in the best way possible.4. Construction phase: where our construction team worked (during

times most convenient which wouldn’t disrupt the business’ operation) to install the new energy systems.

THE PROCESS

IMPROVEMENT MADE

OUR SOLUTION

• The project process included an introductory audit and building analysis, time to design new energy systems, arranging project financing, and installing energy systems in a construction project which wouldn’t disrupt their operations.

• A 80 kW rooftop solar array was installed on the Ike Skelton’s roof. The panels were linked to inverters using PV wire and mounted using a Iron Ridge Flush Mount racking.

• Additionally, EnergyLink provided metering and verification (M&V) services for Ike Skelton to monitor the energy performance of their solar array over time.
