WORSHIP NOTES

Welcome to Hope CRC! This morning we have the privilege of sharing in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. If you are visiting with us today, we invite all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and are professing members in good standing with their home church to join us in Communion. As we worship, we will be reading from Hebrews 7:11-28. As Jesus’ body and blood were given for us, Hebrews reminds us that Jesus is the perfect high priest who offered himself up so that we may have new life in Him. In the evening, we continue to read through Matthew and the “Kingdom of Heaven” passages. This evening’s text is Matthew 16:13-20, where Jesus reminds us all that He gives us the keys to open up the Kingdom of Heaven. Those keys are found in the saving faith that He provides us. Let us worship God today!

Supper club: Viewpoints Bible study, along with the support of the evangelism committee, is starting a supper club for Hope CRC. There will be a sign-up sheet on the counter for any couple or single adult who would like to enjoy a meal together. We will make groups of 6-8 people to meet and share a meal together. This will be a 6 month commitment. When it is your turn to host you may choose to make the meal or go out or call in; your choice. We hope you will become more acquainted with your group as you will share a meal 3-4 times within your six months. We hope to begin in January. Group listings will go out to everyone the first of December. If you have questions, you can talk to Nancy Driesen. Operation Christmas Child: Operation Christmas Child brings hope and joy to kids worldwide through a simple gift-filled shoebox. But a shoebox is only the beginning! It also gives the children an opportunity to have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through a Bible Study. Boxes will be provided in the kitchen (you can also purchase your own container or use a shoe box). You can choose to pack a box for a girl or a boy, or both! This is a fun project to do with your kids too! Please have your filled boxes in church by November 9. If you have any questions please contact Rebecca Te Slaa or Vanessa Vink. Mentors Needed: Crossroads Prison Ministries needs mentors! Our mentorship program connects men and women in prison with people on the outside, like you. These mentors help prisoners study and understand the Bible. They also write encouraging letters that remind people in prison of God’s love and hope. Please visit cpministries.org or talk to Wanda Talsma, Bev Altena, Marion or Jan Van Soelen who are presently mentors. Great Marriages Don’t Just Happen: Family Life’s Weekend to Remember conference is at Sioux Falls Sheraton November 2-4. Use group name HullHopeCRC to save $100

Fall Bonanza: The Board of Directors at Western Christian invite you to reserve Friday, November 16 for the debut of the Western Christian Fall Bonanza. Formerly called FUND Night, our theme for the evening is a Windfall of Blessings. Highlights of the Fall Bonanza include an online auction, a live auction, a delicious meal, and the always popular Kids’s Carnival. Visit www.westernchristianhs.com for more information. Western Principal: The Principal Search Task Force appointed by the Board of Trustees earlier this fall has been diligently moving forward in the search process. With the assistance of CACE (Center for the Advancement of Christian Education), multiple focus groups were held in September with Staff, Alumni, Parents, Supporters and Community members. An online survey was also used to collect data from across our broad range of constituents. This collective information was used to develop the Opportunity Profile. We would like to thank all of those who were able to participate and contribute thoughts, ideas and support during this process. Early in October the Opportunity Profile was distributed to a wide range of candidates and education platforms and posted on Western’s web site. We ask that you again lift Western Christian and the search process in prayer as we continue to identify applicants and anticipate beginning the interview process early in November.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS

Wilma Heynen was admitted to the hospital this past week after falling due to dizziness. Thankfully there were no broken bones and the dizziness was linked to side effects related to her treatments. She is feeling better now and was able to return home. Pray for her continued strength as she hopes to resume treatments soon.

Cruise De Groot continues his deployment to the Middle East. Cruise’s address has changed, and his parents will provide his address if you’d like to send him a note. You may also message him through Facebook. Please pray for his safety and encouragement.

We remember our members who reside in care facilities: Marv Boon at Prairie Ridge Care

Center in Orange City, Grace Dykstra at Pleasant Acres, and Evelyn Dykstra in Byron Center Manor in Byron Center, MI. We also remember those who reside at home but aren’t able to join us from week to week. We also pray for their families as they support them.

Thank You: A heartfelt thank you to all those who helped out with our Apple Pie Project this year! We made around 1325 pies and have sold them ALL! (The deacons will let us know how much was made when all money, receipts, etc. have been turned in) We couldn’t have done it without your prayers, donations, your pie orders, the volunteers who helped Tuesday and Wednesday, the volunteers who brought food in and the ladies who coordinated the lunch for us! Also thank you to our church contact who gets the lard for us! Above all we send up prayers of thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father for always being present in our lives and blessing us during this project! Mike and Marideth and the Apple Pie Committee Sioux Center Christian School Prayer Warriors Request: We are currently facing some heavy attacks from evil as we mark the one-year anniversary of the revelation of sexual abuse at our school. We are feeling that the enemy is really trying to worm his way into the relationships/lives of the young men in our 7th and 8th grade. The last week or so has been very hard for several parents, students, teachers, and school staff. We are asking for prayer warriors to come to school to join us in the battle against evil. We have opportunities for prayer in 30-minute slots from until Thanksgiving break. Those willing to do this would just check in at the office and then head down to the 7th and 8th grade hallway. You can choose to sit in the prayer room in that hallway, walk up and down the hall, visit classrooms, etc. - however you would like to do this. Our goal is to have specific prayer happening for our students throughout the day. Let's see how filled up we can get the sign-up sheet. ***For a link to the online sign-up sheet please e-mail [email protected]
