Students project models were exhibited in the [nana-Vignana sammelana at Sri AdichunchanagiriMahasamsthanaMutt, Sri Adichunchanagiri Kshetra,Nagamangala Taluk, Mandya District - 571811 from19/02/15 to 20/02/2015. Scientists from reputedorganizations like ISRO and students across the statehad attended the program.

As a Social responsibility, the tender coconutopening machine which was designed andfabricated by the department was donated to Mr.Subramani by Prof. T. Madhusudhan, HOD on11thFeb 2015.

Young Scientist AwardDr. Kiran Kumar P, has been conferred youngscientist award by VeST (SMYSR- Seed Moneyfor Young Scientist Research). This award is givenfor continued research work and a sum of Rs. 4Lakh has been funded to the Department.

KSCSTApproved ProjectsDuring the 38th series of student projectsprogramme: 2014-2015, the Karnataka StateCouncil for Science and Technology (KSCST)sanctioned and approved the following projects,

1. "Design And Fabrication of Solar AssistedRefrigeration System" under the guidance ofProf T. Madhusudhan, HOD for 8th semesterstudents led by Mr. Arjun V

It's a matter of pride for thedepartment that a 2010 batchstudent, Mr Anand G Hegde hassecured 7th Rank scoring 84.87 %as overall aggregate in B.E.Mechanical Engineering streamrecognized during the 14th VTUAnnual Convocation May 2015.Onbehalf of Management, Principaland HOD, Prof. T. congratulated all the staffmembersof the department for their contribution for getting therank, which was first time at university level for thedepartment. The department continues its effort tobring out much more similar laurels in the overalldevelopment and growth of the Institution.

Staff trip

The department staff club had conducted a staff trip toPyramid Valley Kanakapura road, Bangalore on14/04/2015. Pyramid Valley is an InternationalMeditation Centre serving individuals, societies andorganizations in their quest for self-realization andspiritual wisdom and helps them unlock their hiddenpotential. All the staffmembers performed meditationfor around 20 minutes on king's chamber inside thepyramid.

Under the students club, the department hadorganised a visit to Nehru Planetarium andVisvesvaraya museum for the Students of 8th semesterB.Eand 2nd semesterM-Tech on 24thFeb 2015.

IOSSAN Agro Exhibition

Under the Staff Club, the department had organised avisit to Kisan Fair on 11th Feb 2015at the BangaloreInternational Exhibition Centre (BIEC)in Bangalore,India. The event showcased product from Agriculture& Forestry, Food & Beverage, and atural & Organicindustries.

Industrial Visit to VOLVO

Department had organised an industrial visit toVOLVOIndia Private Ltd, Peenya, Bangalore, for BE6th Sem Mechanical Engineering Students and twofaculty members on 22/04/15. The Visit boughtknowledge about manufacturing section, assemblylines,testing sections.

Alumni Interaction

Mr. Anshul Kumar Singh and Mr. Devendra 2010batch pass out students addressed the final yearstudents regarding the projects, practical classes andmotivated the students to give more importance topractical concepts.

Various events like Earth from Elsewhere, Killhouse, Minute to win it, Archery and many moreexciting events were organised during the program.The highlight of the event was the Electric car fromMahindra REVA which was exhibited during theevent.

The event was well organised by the students of 6thand 4th semester who entirely coordinated all eventsand involved in overall arrangements from theinauguration till the completion of the event. The stallsof Ambur biryani, Cool berries were major attractionfor the crowd to relish.

.Social Etiquette

The department had organised a talk on socialetiquettes and to inculcate the sense of socialresponsibilities among the students. The talk wasgiven by Mr. Raju, vice president from Aditya INC(MNC).

Mr. Yashas from ANZ's Corporate sector,conducted the workshop on the below modules tothe students of 8th semester MechanicalEngineering, 2nd semester and 4th Semester M-TechOn28thMarch 2015.

Community Service

As a part of Social service campaign by thedepartment, the department had organized a Socialservice activity to the Government lower primaryschool, Mylasandra, Kengeri, Bangalore-560060 on17thMarch 2015.

During this visit, games and activities were held for 1stto 5th standard students which would enhance theteam building" Social awareness, as well as co-ordination among the students.

Faculty Development Program

A4day hands on workshop on Autodesk AutoCAD &Autodesk Inventor for faculty members was organisedat VTU regional office Bengaluru from 23rd to 26thApril 2015.The training was conducted by Autodeskcertified professionals and the workshop was attendedby Mr. Shankara. D Rand Mr. Thirumala S V, facultymembers ofMechanical Department.

Faculty Orientation

Faculty orientation program for both newly recruitedstaff along with previous faculty members wasconducted by HOD during the month of February2015.HOD stressed on various points in line with theprincipal's orientation program.

Certification courses for students

Additional training for the students of Mechanicaldepartment on CATIA,Hypermesh has commenced asper schedule.

A guest lecture was organised for 8th semesterstudents on "Automation Technology in LeanManufacturing" by Mr. Mr. Jana Udayan, ProjectEngineer, on 25th Feb 2015.

National Conference TTMT-15

Topical Transcend in Mechanical Engineering (TTMT)15,aNational Conference will be held on 9thMay 2015.Papers on various areas such as Design andManufacturing, Material Science, composites, CFD,FEM and others are being presented by ResearchScholars, post graduates and faculties from variousInstitutions across Bengaluru and other regions ofKarnataka.

GREYHOUND Go-Kart Team

The inception of GREYHOUND happened on 28thDecember, 2014. This is the initiation of 4th semestermechanical students. The kart was presented duringthe branch's technical fest "Mpower-'15". The team isgeared up to participate in Go-kart design challenge(GKDC) to be held in BUDDH International circuit inthe month ofFeb 2016.

Mr. Abhijith Gowda, faculty memberhad umpired formore than 30matches forMini cricket,which was a 2 day event. Other faculty members likeMr. Prajwal, Mr. Sanjay, Mr. Gowtham, Mr.Venkataramana Swamy, Mr. Ravi Kumbar and Mr.Siddaramappa organised the sports events like Minisoccer, Treasure Hunt, Mini Volley ball, Tug of war,Lagori,Mini Basketball.

New Workshop LabAs per the revised syllabus, w.e.f 2014-15batch, theexisting workshop Lab has been modified andremodelled as per the latest syllabus ofVTU. The lab isone of its kind in comparison with other colleges andmany colleges have approached for enquiriesregarding the design of the Lab. One SDP wasconducted during Sep 2014which bought lot of laurelsfrom other colleges for having such a sophisticated labin the department. .
