We have been asked why? Why are the Middle America and Glenside fests so close? The close timing is bound to have an adverse effect on each fest. Inevitably some vendors and users will choose to attend one or the other, lowering the gate at both. Granted the timing is poor. During the planning stages Oct - Nov '92, we were in contact with Glenside. Who at that time were planning the Chicago Fest - late July. We signed contracts, set dates, and began promotion in Dec. Then learned in late Janurary, that the Chicago Fest would be held May 1& 2. Tony Podraza, Pres of Glenside said, "They wanted a hotel in the Chicago Airport area. And had many problems trying to reserve Fest space in July Aug, or even Sept. Too many weddings, conventions etc. (we try to catch the hotels in their off season, for better rates) At which point Glenside's only choice was May 1 - 2 or goto to a hotel on the outskirts away from the airport". They might have opted for a less expensive but very nice hotel as we have here. Though it be a distance from an airport. (4% or less fly to the Fests) But second guessing is always easier then first. Glenside has held fests in past years, and has every right to continue. Glenside has been very supportive of our fest and if there is controvery; we are unaware of it. Declining support for the CoCo in general no doubt also, accounts for lower attendance. I'm already seeing a lower gate then expected. BUT, if it's having fun at the Fest you're after,„ you're in the right place! We expect plenty of that! We're here to support the CoCo community and,,, have a ball in the process! We have been asked why?

Why are the Middle America

and Glenside fests so close?

The close timing is bound to have an adverse effect

on each fest. Inevitably some vendors and users will

choose to attend one or the other, lowering the gate

at both. Granted the timing is poor.

During the planning stages Oct - Nov '92, we were

in contact with Glenside. Who at that time were

planning the Chicago Fest - late July. We signed

contracts, set dates, and began promotion in Dec.

Then learned in late Janurary, that the Chicago Fest

would be held May 1& 2.

Tony Podraza, Pres of Glenside said, "They wanted a

hotel in the Chicago Airport area. And had many

problems trying to reserve Fest space in July Aug, or

even Sept. Too many weddings, conventions etc. (we

try to catch the hotels in their off season, for better rates) At which point Glenside's only choice

was May 1 - 2 or goto to a hotel on the outskirts

away from the airport".

They might have opted for a less expensive but very

nice hotel as we have here. Though it be a distance

from an airport. (4% or less fly to the Fests) But

second guessing is always easier then first. Glenside has held fests in past years, and has

every right to continue. Glenside has been very supportive of our fest and if there is controvery; we are unaware of it. Declining support for the CoCo in

general no doubt also, accounts for lower attendance.

I'm already seeing a lower gate then

expected. BUT, if it's having fun at the Fest you're after,„ you're in the right place! We expect plenty of that! We're here to support the CoCo community and,,,

have a ball in the process!

The.: J A A, "Uottat r4mertoot4t DJave. Anta4=4". TirenArmil. ILA:Nampa Whom it.

The dropping of J&M from the CoCo market some years ago saw the loss of this highly valued Drive analizer.

I've found six new & complete sets Includes:

Program disk (CoCo 2 or 3), Digital disk, J&M Comprehensive instruction Manual.

The easy to read bold print maunal has instructions on how to adjust: alignment, drive and index hole timing speed on most drives.

I and others have found the Index timing speed is off on many "new drives"! This not only efects the read write ability from system to system, but proper speed will increase the alignment accruacy of other readings.

It Tests: Drive Speed, Index hole Timing, Head Scew 0/I/M (Outter Inner Middle), Head Alignment D/I/M. Alignment sensitivity 0/I/M. Head Rotation, Directional seek. Drives 1 - 4 Single or double sided drives.

When I 44.44t pu4cha4ed a J & M Te4t dt,sk 4et (wagiknatty $105.00), we 4ett the p4tce wa4 a bkt much 404 one pen40n 40 40.42 between 'eve-'tat 04 U4. You may do the 4ame (one check). Fo4 a ctub o4 4matt oup. k2i4 a ba.4.4.n!

Buykng a new &aye k4n't a4 4kmpte an an4we4a LZ4eem4. New d4tve4 mo4e 04-ten then not need an ea4y twang to be at pea& p4e404mance. Occa44tonaJ2y they a4e bad 44om the box.

When you are a little high, they are a little low no problem for each, until one is out of sinc for the other. Being "right on" allows you to read and write other systems disks with greater accuracy. For those like myself who have vital need of our CoCo sytems with disks serving a broad spectrum; I want disks written to ulitmate standards. For all users, a periodic check will show you when a head

cleaning will aid„ and at the same time eleminate the wear of over cleaning.

The fringe benefit is many times a small adjustment rather then a new drive with longer lasting more accruate and reliable drives!

Like having a technician at home. $85.00 Plus 84.00 shipping via Prioriety Mail Terry Simons • 1328 48th, Des Moines, IA 50311

Available at the MI&QC membership booth. J&M doesn't even have the software left in store.

When these are gone there may be no more!

three years ago, we were commited to keeping the small group
