II. Cabin Crew Training
II.1 Preface Human factors have positively been taken for granted to be the motor power of the organizations and institutions in the present world. The economists believe that economic and social developments of a country are determined by efficient human resources, not capital or other material resources. In regard to the above- mentioned fact the instruction, training and improvement of efficient human forces in the organizations and firms are undeniably vital and would certainly contribute to the enhancement and improvement of the individuals’ efficiency and therefore would enable them to continue their activities in accordance with their environment as well as any development in the organization.
Entry Requirements : As regulations EDUCATION: High school (diploma) or a higher degree; AGE: Minimum age of 18 years Medical: Examination to determine physical fitness for safety – related cabin crew
responsibilities. Language: The standard language of aviation is English; hence the regulations
regarding the entrance examination as well as the interview of the flight attendants being admitted is strictly advised to be at a level 4 RACD 3 PA 3.2.1.1.
Note: As a result, the ones being accepted in this manner will not be required to attend any
English course

AIRCRAFT TYPE TRAINING: The aircraft type training modules, one module at the request of the in-flight service department will be provided to the flight attendants in order to complete the course and be authorized to fly.

II.2 Training Standards Initial Training
Any person joining COMPAGNIE AFRICAINE D’AVIATION as a flight crew shall be required to undergo an initial SEP course. Crew failing the SEP exam will be given a reset the following day. Failing the reset, the crew may be reprogrammed for another initial SEP course subject to assessment and course availability. Crew failing to meet the necessary training requirements will be sent to the respective departments for necessary action. Conversion Training A current crew promoted from one fleet to another fleet is permitted to one conversion. Crew failing their conversion will revert to their former fleet. Should their SEP validity on the former fleet lapsed; they are to attend recurrent training. Crew may request for a second (final) conversion subject to clearance by the Flight Safety Training Department. Recurrent Training
1. All Crew are required to attend and undergo an annual mandatory recurrent training
within 12 months of their last SEP validity date. This is to ensure their continued proficiency.
2. Crew failing the annual recurrent examination (1st attempt) may be permitted to one re-sit the next working day. Crew failing the re-sit, shall be grounded and rostered for next available recurrent course.
Refresher (Re-Qualification) Training Category 1 – If a cabin crew is still current but not operating or flying a particular fleet for 6 months or more. He is required to attend a Refresher Training (no exam required), or operate two (2) re-familiarization sectors, which must be annotated in the report and copied to Safety Department. Category 2 – If a cabin crew member has been absent from all flying duties for six (6) months or more, and still remains within the period of validity of the previous recurrent check, he shall be required to attend a Refresher Training (exam is required), before being assigned to operate as a crew member. A new SEP validity date will be given.

Differences Training
Any differences or type or variant training provided is dependent on the extent of the content differences. The scope of training is to be determined by Safety Department. Training audit
Safety Department will conduct random audit on SEP training standards and training facilities. SEP examination All crew are required to undergo an examination before they are qualified to operate on the aircraft that they have been trained. The passing mark for all SEP examination is set at 80%.

Objective
The objective of Emergency Situation Training is to provide instructions, demonstration and practice in the handling of emergency situations, survival and first aid. The objective of Emergency drill training is to provide instruction and practice in the actual use of emergency equipment necessary to cover the type of operation performed by Compagnie Africaine d’Aviation.

This training course last 2 days and include:

Emergency drill training.
Emergency situation training is a class-room ground course and emergency drill training is provided in a mock up.

II.3.6 Recurrent training
1. Objective
The objective of the 12-month recurrent training programme is to refresh knowledge of flight crewmembers and to demonstrate their ability in using the safety equipment.
Recurrent training will be done annually. Emergency and safety equipment training may be combined with emergency and safety equipment checking and shall be conducted in an aeroplane or a suitable alternative training device. Emergency evacuation exercises are completed once every 3 calendar years.

II.4 Theoretical knowledge (ground) Instructor General The knowledge Instructor shall be responsible to the Training Managers for ensuring that instruction is performed in accordance with the approved training syllabus contents. In addition to the theoretical elements of a course, he/she may also train and assess students in the practical elements if the requirements are met. Duties and Responsibilities The instructor shall:
a) carry out instructional duties for which he/she is qualified; b) prepare training aids and lecture exhibits; c) have enough preparation for the scheduled subject; d) plan and lead an orderly process of learning growth by which students educate themselves to the
limit of their capabilities; e) conduct formal classes of instruction; f) prepare and recommend improvements in course materials; g) keep abreast of current developments in aviation; h) act as an examiner or invigilator if approved by director training Department; i) participate in special activities, such as a refresher course, in order to maintain updated and gain
the required knowledge and practical experience; j) compile questions for examination banks for which he/she is qualified; k) prepare and update exam questions under the supervision of the relevant director; l) assess the qualifications of the new instructor in conducting the new subject of a course;
Qualifications The cabin crew instructor shall hold the following minimum qualifications and experience:
a) Basic flight attendant certificate b) Type certificate in conformity with the subject to be taught. c) At least five years of experience as flight attendant d) A valid Instructor Training Authorization. e) A teaching certificate
Note1. Those instructors who are to teach subjects other than aircraft-related subjects shall hold the respective basic training certificate.

II.5 Competencies of Instructors In order to make sure that Instructors Retain their competency, the TM shall assess the relevant Instructor using form 18, once a year.
II.6 Practical Instructor General All knowledge instructors may act as practical instructors/assessors under the supervision of their respective Managers. The Director shall authorize a qualified person to act as a practical instructor/assessor. Duties and Responsibilities The practical instructor/assessor shall:
a) Familiarize the trainees with the usual work sequences; b) Develop a sense of responsibility, an appreciation of the value of the equipment worked on and
the fine tools used, neatness, economy of effort in each trainee; c) Participate in teaching the practical phase of the related course; d) Evaluate the practical performance of the trainees individually and in a team work.
Qualifications The Practical Instructor/Assessor shall have the following minimum qualifications and experience;
a) A professional license in conformity with the practical phase of the subject to be trained; b) A teaching certificate or approval, or three years of practical teaching experience; c) A valid examination conducting authorization (form 13); and d) A valid Instructor Training Authorization (Form 11).
II.7 Instructional Staff
All TRAINING DEPARTMENT teaching staff may carry out examinations and undertake duties of
examiners or invigilators if assigned by training Department.
The list of instructors/assessors after approved by Training manager and AAC shall be issued in this
chapter and kept in the Admissions and Records Office.
TRAINING DEPARTMENT shall produce a record for each instructional and examination staff
member. The instructional and examination staff records shall be kept in the Admissions and Records
Office in secure conditions. These files shall provide a detailed description of all instructional and
examination staff employed at TRAINING DEPARTMENT. The contents of these files shall contain
those documents which are stated in TPM.

II.7.1 Instructional staff Training programme.
Curricula to include:
ground training, airplane training, evaluation and certification, line flying under supervision, and any specialized training;
Comprehensive syllabi to include:
Lesson plans, procedures for training and the conduct of evaluations;
The training programme for the development of knowledge and skills related to human performance (Crew Resource Management/Dispatch Resource Management, CRM/DRM) and etc as following items:
Standardized procedures for training and the conduct of evaluations;
Standards that ensure piloting technique and the ability to execute normal and non-normal procedures are checked in a way that demonstrates each pilot's competence;
A requirement that simulated airplane, weather and environmental conditions are standardized and appropriate for the training/evaluation being administered;
Limits for the number of times maneuvers which can be repeated so as to be considered acceptable are at instructor pilot discretion, but it is usually no more than three times; and
Note: If a flight crew is unable to achieve or maintain required standards, decision for remedial training and subsequent evaluation will be made in training committee and final decision for training continuation with different instructor will be made.
II.7.2 Instructors Refresher Training
All instructors shall be provided with updating training for a period of 6 hours every one year.
Instructors are provided with the following courses:
1) Human factors 2) Instructional technique course 3) Experience feedback received from aircraft operation environment 4) Compagnie Africaine d’Aviation training Department TPM 5) Any changes in procedures 6) Any modifications made to the aircraft.
II.8 Policy for the conduct of evaluation
a) Procedures for Theoretical knowledge Examinations & progress and knowledge tests after each
ground course, a multi-choice questionnaire has to be passed by the trainees with a result of
80%.
Instructors are required to conduct knowledge progress tests at the end of each chapter of the textbook being covered. Final examinations are normally conducted on the last day of Instruction.
b) Procedures for authorization for tests:
1) Examinations shall be conducted by authorized Examiners. To authorize an Examiner to conduct examinations a valid Examination conducting Authorization (Form13) is required. This authorization shall remain valid as long as required qualifications are met.

c) Procedures for refresher training before retest:
Normally, each subject of a training course is evaluated by means of an examination at the end of instruction. Trainees are required to obtain a passing score of at least 80 percent of the possible total in each subject of the training course. If a student receives an unsatisfactory grade, he or she shall be given remedial training and retested. If a student, after undertaking remedial training, fails in the re-sit, he/she shall take the same subject again. More failures shall be dealt with in the faculty board. The deliberations and decisions of this board should be formally recorded in the student’s file and the student should be advised. All cases of failure to progress as expected should be treated very seriously and students should be left in no doubt that minimum pass standards will not be waived. d) Test reports and records:
The Examinations Office staff shall score the completed answer sheets of multiple-choice questions by means of a key. Wrong choices on the answer sheet should be marked with a tick or a cross. If, on the answer sheet, a question has been left with no answer or two choices have been made to a question, no penalty marking should be counted. Regarding essay-type questions, the respective instructor shall mark the answer sheets and report the results to the Examinations Office. The respective instructor should be invited to the Examination Office and given the scored answer sheets, together with an examination booklet/paper for final considerations. Should the instructor notice an abnormal case or poorly constructed question, he/she may take a remedial action and make changes in the scores. If so, the respective Training Manager shall be invited to the office in order to verify the revised scores by signing the respective answer sheets. Note. Any change to be made to the scores shall be stated on the answer sheet. Finally, the Examinations Office shall enter the scores on the Final Examination Results List (Form 17) and give it, together with the Progress Test Results List (Form 14), to the respective instructor. The respective instructor shall determine the final scores of the students and enter them on the Final Examination Results List. The final scores shall be announced on the board within two weeks after the date of examination, and a copy of the final scores sent to the Admissions and Records Office. The Examinations Office shall keep the examination questions and answer sheets in a suitably secure condition to prevent any illegal access to them. Only the responsible examiner is authorized to have access to the questions. Any objection to an exam result should be officially written to the DTC’s Office (Form 20). The respective instructor will be informed of such an objection in order to consider the case. If the objection raised deserves consideration, after the relevant Training Manager’s acceptance, the Examinations Office will change the result and attach the objection form to the trainee’s answer sheet. No student is allowed to observe his/her answer sheet. In order to maintain their security, the questions and answer sheets shall be returned to the Examinations Office immediately after the conduct of the examination. Only the Examinations Office staff members shall be permitted to make copies of exam papers.

In order to prevent the candidates from taking any illegal action, they shall be separated from each other so that they cannot read each other’s examination papers and may receive the examination papers in alternate order. They may not speak to any person other than the examiner. No candidate shall be permitted to leave the room with any examination material. e) Procedures for knowledge test preparation, type of questions and assessments, standards
required for a pass;
Questions shall be designed based on the approved training course syllabus. They shall logically be related to the subject and cover all subject-matter areas. Examination questions shall be of the multiple-choice or essay style, written in English. Each multiple-choice item consists of a question or an incomplete statement, called a stem and three or four possible answers or alternatives, called responses. The student is required to select the correct answer, the best answer or the incorrect answer as specified in the stem. The time limit imposed on the test shall be specified on the exam paper and the students shall be verbally reminded of, too. After preparation of the test, the Training Manager shall approve it. The examination questions shall be improved and updated regularly. For each multiple-choice type examination, a key to answers shall be prepared and securely kept in the Examinations Office. The Examinations Office shall place on record the date on which the examination questions have been prepared and the name of the respective instructor. f) Procedures for questions analysis and review and issuing replacement exams;
1) Analysis of Examination Results
The Examinations Office staff members are in charge of deriving the examination results from the
examination answer sheets and issuing the Examination Results List (Form 17).
The relevant examiner shall be notified of the results and in the event of any abnormal case, he/she
may take action to solve the problem under the supervision of the respective Training Manager. The
action taken will be stated on the answer sheets (Forms 16A or 16B) and the results will be
announced.
g) knowledge test re-write Procedures
Each instructor, under the supervision of the respective training Director, is responsible for updating the examination questions when deemed necessary. New essay questions shall be raised at least every six months and used questions withdrawn or rested from use. A record of the questions used shall be retained in the records for reference. The Examinations Office may also monitor the date on which the questions are required to be designed and inform the instructors of the necessity of updating them.

II.9 Examiner General
Examiners shall perform their duties under the supervision of the Training Manager Furthermore, the examinations office staff shall cooperate with the examiners in conducting the examinations and act as invigilators. Duties and Responsibilities The examiner shall be responsible for:
a) keeping all examination questions in a secure manner prior to an examination, to ensure that
candidates will not know which particular questions will form the basis of the examination; b) taking steps to ensure a secure testing environment; c) seating candidates as far as possible from one another so that they cannot read each other's
examination papers; d) the allocation of examination papers at the beginning of the examination and retrieving them on
completion; e) requiring candidates to write their seat number on examination answer sheets (Forms 16A and
16B); f) requiring on each examination sheet the candidate’s signature to guard against substitute exam
takers (Forms 16A and 16B); g) conducting the examinations according to the TPM and signing the Answer Sheets (Forms 16A
and 16B) at the end of examination allotted time; h) reporting any illegal occurrence to the Training Manager; i) proctoring the examinations carefully; and j) Marking of the examination papers using acceptable marking standards (Form 16A).
Qualifications The Examiner shall have the following qualifications and experience:
a) Ability to conduct examinations; b) High integrity and loyalty to the regulations and decisions taken; c) Clear understanding of the examination standards & regulations prescribed in the TPM; d) Be degree in aerospace or hold a professional aviation license in the subject area of
examinations to be conducted; e) A valid Examination Conducting Authorization (Form 13);
