• THEN: only three routes to qualification:

– Holders of Masters degree prepare Portfolio

– Undertaken structured training scheme of Evidence

– Holders of UK first degree and/or 5 years’ experience prepare Technical Report before Portfolio of Evidence

• NOW: additional route for holders of a first degree - preparing a Portfolio of Technical Knowledge

• Identified subject for Technical Report

• Mentor – to challenge assertions and findings

• Discuss with your manager

• Identify a mentor early on

• If going down Technical Report route: – review the new guidance on the TPPQ website

– select a subject that meets the criteria and that you are familiar with

– prepare a outline plan and seek feedback from your mentor

• For the Portfolio of Evidence:

– make sure that you have the correct combination of Competence Record Forms and that the content reflects the Competency Requirements

– be certain on how you see your career developing and the CPD activities that you intend to undertake

• For the Presentation and Interview:

– Seek colleagues’ feedback on your presentation

– Ensure you are familiar with current issues

related to transport planning and have an

appreciation of how transport planning fits in with wider environmental considerations

• Post-award: – Maintain your CPD record for annual submission to TPS /

IHT
