About 12 miles south of Tucson stands Mission San Xavier del Bac, aremarkable church which has been maintained to look much as it didin 1797. What you will see is a view into the Spanish/Mexican baroqueworld. Life as it was then is forever captured in the frozen gestures of

Tubac is our next stop. This tour is filled with early Arizona history. Tubac was at onetime the site of a Spanish presidio built in 1752 to protect nearby missions and

Today, Tubac is a colorful artist colonywhere working artists' studios now surround the grounds which onceserved as the military garrison. Tubac is the town where art andhistory meet. Youll enjoy wandering through the numerousmuseums, art galleries, working studios and gift shops. After shoppinglunch will be served at the Tubac Country Club.
Leaving Tubac you will travel the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail to the
nearby Tumacacori Mission. The Tumacacori Mission was built in 1795 as a Franciscanmission church. The garden contains plants similar to those grown by the padres 200

Tucson is a city with an exciting and colorful past, rich in Indian, Spanish, Mexican, and
Anglo culture, and is fortunate to have entire neighborhoods where this history has been
preserved. The Barrio Viejo and Armory Park have well preserved Sonoran, MissionRevival, and Victorian buildings. Prior to arriving at the El Presidio Historic District,
you will tour the Arizona Historical Society. The Historical Society houses many exhibits
from 19th century womens clothing to the Indian cultures. Next is Old Town Artisans, acollection of shops located in Tucsons El Presidio Historic District. Unique,
charming, and historic seem to best describe Old Town Artisans. There are a
variety of shops, wares, and a cafe found within this 1850s restored adobe structure.
Housed within these historic walls are the works of hundreds of artists and craftsmanrepresenting numerous cultures as well as countries. You will depart from the resorts

You will depart from the resorts front drive with our tour guide for a one-of-a-kind tour.
Located in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, Biosphere 2 is
the largest man-made, self-sustaining ecosystem everbuilt.
The tour begins in the human habitat. You will see one of the apartments where the
Biospherians lived for one and a half years, the farm area where they grew their crops
and the kitchen where they cooked their meals. Your guide will lead you through theairlock door into the wilderness areas of Biosphere 2. You will experience firsthand the
environments of this engineering marvel. First you enter the tropical savanna. The trail
system then travels along the 40-foot ocean cliff where you look down into the milliongallon tropical ocean. Moving down the trail, you descend into the lower savanna along
the mangrove through the tropical thorn scrub and into the coastal fog desert. From the
desert, you go into the technosphere. The technosphere is where mechanical systemscontrol the Biosphere 2 environments. You then descend through a tunnel into one of two
lungs. The lungs are large geodesic domes that originally prevented Biosphere 2 from
exploding or imploding. This is an amazing technological/futuristic experience.. 45minute transfer
