Parent Involvement in Parish Programs Parents are encouraged to be a part of any and all services and programs in which their children are involved in the Diocese of Portland. Parents have an open invitation to observe programs and activities in which their children are involved. However, parents who desire to participate in or have continuous, ongoing contact with their child’s programs in the Church will be required to complete the volunteer application process and participate in the Virtus/Protecting God’s Children training. The diocese thanks you for your cooperation. Questions; contact Deacon Denis Mailhot, Parish Safe Environment Coordinator.

IHM Family Faith Formation

Want to know more about what we do at Mass and why? Many people are not aware that there are beautiful documents which describe the Church’s most important act of worship: the Mass! Come and join us as we take a not-too-deep but eye-opening look at the following important documents:

Sunday, February 12 - Practical Applications After reviewing the Church’s official documents on liturgy, we will explore how it might be best experienced at an average Sunday Mass.

Reading the documents, or summaries of them, ahead of time will facilitate understanding and discussion. They are available online on our website: ihm-auburn.org

Special Series for Adults: The Church's Teaching on Liturgy

Presented by Fr. Lariviere

Pastoral Visit Bishop Deeley will be honoring us with his presence at the 11 AM Mass next Sunday, February 19. Whenever possible, Bishop Deeley has been visiting parishes on weekends. There will be a reception and luncheon in the parish hall immediately after Mass. Everyone is welcome to join Bishop Deeley for Mass and to meet him at the luncheon afterwards.

The Sixth Annual Catholic Women's Conference

Saturday, April 29, 2017 Holiday Inn By the Bay, Portland

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Join us April 29, 2017, for the Sixth Annual Catholic Women's Conference, presented by the Office of Lifelong Faith For-mation. The conference features Leah Darrow. As a former pro-fessional model, Leah now teaches other women an appreciation of the true meaning of beauty and God's design. She reflects on the virtue of modesty with inspiration with Sacred Scripture.

The mission of the Maine Catholic Women's Conference is to come together as Sisters in Christ for a day to nurture and strengthen the Faith of the Catholic women of Maine, so they may share the abundance of God’s Mercy and Love and the full-ness of His Truth with others.

The cost of the conference is $50 if you register by March 20 and $60 after that date. There is a special student rate of $30.

The registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch, and the first 100 registrants will receive a copy of the book Mother Teresa of Calcutta: A Personal Portrait. Registration closes on April 20.

Theology on Tap

“Participants feel refreshed by their time together and strengthened in their relationship with God,” said Josh Houde. “It's an incredible blessing to know that you're not alone in your desire to live for God.”

As one of the organizers of “Theology on Tap,” Houde, the youth minister at Good Shepherd Parish in Saco, has helped to provide a warm, casual environment in which people, generally in their twenties and thirties, can come together to learn more about their faith and to feel valued and welcomed in the Catholic Church.

Held once a month at a southern Maine restaurant or bar, “Theology on Tap” is a gathering of college students and young adults that features food, drinks, conversation, and engaging theology discussions.

A different guest speaker also presents on a topic of faith each month.

The next “Theology on Tap” will be held at Pat’s Pizza, located at 30 Market Street in Portland, on Thursday, February 16, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The gathering will be held upstairs in the group room. The presenter will be Bishop Robert P. Deeley.

Thank you for your generosity
