Background
Nigeria is one of the highest contributor to the global
burden of maternal and infant mortality.
MMR= 814 per 100,000 live births (WHO, 2015)
Under five MR =2,300 on daily basis
This is the major reason for my choice of this particular
pressing and challenging topic.
Healthcare in Nigeria is bedeviled with so many
challenges with the low income earners as the people
with most affected.
Rural areas where farmers dwell are also the most
affected.
Challenges Addressed
Strong cultural factors
High rate of illiteracy
Socio-economic factors
Poor health seeking behaviour
Physical barriers to access of healthcare
services
Poor government policies
Project ApproachCommunity Advocacy
Sensitization
Mass mobilization
Town Hall and Village Square meetings
Community Opinion leaders
Text messages (reached about 350 women both
pregnant and nursing mothers)
House to house visits
Medical Outreaches
Community meetings
Medical Outreach
Any volunteers?
Share in the chat or raise your hand
to speak about updates in your health
improvement work
