This is the second qualifying event for the 2012 Paralympic Games Sailing Competition.
The Regatta will be held at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy
NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 The following rules shall apply - IFDS Functional Classification System and Procedures 2009 – 2012 - IFDS Race Management Manual 2009 – 2012 (RMM) part 1 - Sonar Class Association Class Rules
- SKUD 18 Class Rules including Section J4 - International 2.4 mR Class Rules, including Section K - Paralympic Class - For the Sonar Class this is an International Sonar Class Association (ISCA) Appendix B -
Alternative Rules event - Appendix G3 of the RRS - Appendix P of the RRS (immediate Penalties for breaking rule 42)
1.3 No national authority prescriptions will apply.
1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
2 ADVERTISING 2.1 The ISAF advertising Code according to Regulation 20 shall apply.
2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to boats of the Sonar, SKUD 18 and 2.4 mR classes. 3.2 Eligible boats may enter on-line at www.ifdsworlds2011.com no later than 1800 hrs local time on Monday 13th June 2011. 3.3 The organising committee in co-operation with the Weymouth & Portland Borough Council will do its
best to help in organising suitable accommodation for participants, coaches and support personnel. Application for housing arrangements can be made on the accompanying housing application form. However, after 1st June 2011, help with housing may not be possible for the organising committee. 4 CLASSIFICATION The following classification requirements will apply (see rule 79):
- All athletes must fulfil the terms of the current IFDS Classification System. - Each athlete is required to produce written proof of membership of a Member National Authority
or one of its affiliated organisations.
5 FEES 5.1 Required fees are as follows:
Class Fees Sonar £ 375.- SKUD 18 £ 250.- 2.4 mR £ 125.-
5.2 Late entries will be accepted after payment of an additional entry fee of: £60, Skud £90, Sonar £120 5.3 Coaches and support personnel shall pay a Coach Fee of £55. 5.4 Participation in social programs and meals is optional. Additional fees for socials and catering may
be charged upon registration. 6 REGISTRATION, QUALIFYING SERIES AND FINAL SERIES 6.1 All competitors, coaches and support personnel shall complete registration at the venue on
Saturday 2nd July 2011, 12.00 hrs. 6.2 There will be no qualifying races. 6.3 There will be no medal races. 7 SCHEDULE 7.1 Schedule of races

7.2 Eleven races are scheduled in each class. 7.3 Two races in each class will be sailed on each racing day, with the exceptions of
Friday 8th July 2011, when one race is scheduled. Due to weather conditions, up to one extra race per day may be sailed, with no competition being more than one race ahead of its schedule.
8 MEASUREMENTS 8.1 Each boat shall present a valid measurement certificate upon registration. In addition all boats will
be measured for compliance with the Class Rules. Measurement and classification will take place at the venue on 30th June and 1st July 2011, from 09.00 – 18.00 hrs, and on 2nd July 2011, from 09.00 – 12.00 hrs.

There will be one windward / leeward configuration course for the 2.4mR Class finishing upwind, and one trapezoid configuration course with the SKUD 18 Class racing on the outer loop and the Sonar Class racing on a windward / leeward course finishing downwind.
12 PENALTY SYSTEM 12.1 For the SKUD-18 class, Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one-turn, including one tack
and one gybe, is required. This also applies for infringements under P2.1
12.2 Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5. 13 SCORING
13.1 Eleven races are scheduled. A minimum of five races will constitute a series and the championship. 13.2 The Low Point Score System of Appendix A of the Racing Rules will apply. Each boat's series score
shall be the total of her race scores, excluding her worst score after five or more races are completed in her event.
14 SUPPORT BOATS 14.1 Support boats shall be marked with their national letters (minimum size 200mm) in accordance with
Appendix G1.1, on both sides of the outside of the hull or the outboard motor casing. 14.2 The Sailing Instructions will contain restrictions on the activities of support boats.
15 BERTHING
All boats, including coachboats and other supporting vessels, shall be kept in their assigned places in the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Instructions from the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy personnel must be observed fully.
16 HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS Keelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the
terms of prior written permission of the race committee.
17 DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS
Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta.
18 RADIO COMMUNICATION
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
19 PRIZES
19.1 The overall winners in the 2.4mR class, in the SKUD 18 class and in the Sonar class will be awarded the title of IFDS World Champion 2011.
19.2 There are Challenge trophies for the winners in each class. 19.3 Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall. 20 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
21 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £1,500,000.- per event or the equivalent.
