A few important notes, some of which are the same from last round of online: Each day will have a combination of live lessons via Zoom and self-directed learning tasks done by students on their own. o Live Zoom lessons are mandatory and students must attend. I will be taking attendance and submitting to the office just like an in-person school day o The self-directed tasks are activities the students will complete on their own, not on zoom The lesson plans I have made have suggested times that I included to give the day more structure. I understand that every families at-home schedule looks different, so feel free to make any changes to the schedule that you need. The only times that are firmly set will be the Zooms. To allow flexibility for all families, there are 3 “levels” tasks. Some must be done by all students, some should be done in order to keep up with our in-classroom learning, and others are completely optional. o Mandatory = must do Encouraged = should do Optional = could do This stretch of online learning is longer than last time, so there some tasks will need to be posted onto each child’s My Blueprint portfolio. I will keep this as minimal as possible to make it easy on families. We practiced how to post a photo at school at Wednesday so most students should know what to do. Each child has their QR code to log-in glued in the front of their agenda or it is in their backpack. Activity Description:

8:30-8:45am

Optional Free Play to Start the Day At school, we start each day with 15 minutes of calm, free time. Some ideas for activities could be: -puzzles -drawing -coloring -reading or writing -play-doh -listening to music Setting a timer for your child might help make this more independent; when the timer goes off, it is time to clean up, take a bathroom break and get ready for our first Zoom lesson

9:45-10:15am

Encouraged Counting By 2s

1. Get your buttons (or any other collection of items from your house) and sort them into piles/groups of 2

2. Count by 2s to find out how many objects you have altogether 3. Complete the “counting by 2s” worksheet from your Home Learning materials

Optional This is our usual Snack and Recess time

Mandatory Literacy Groups -Some students will have their names listed below for a reading group. Everyone will have a turn for a group over the 3 days. -If it is their turn for a group, they need to come to the Zoom meeting room for reading with Ms Ehnes or Mrs McLean. -If it is your child’s reading group day, but you cannot attend the Zoom, that is fine. They can engage in their own independent reading instead. -If their name is not listed, students have a choice of the following activities:

• Read a Book • Read on RAZ Kids or Epic Books • Listen to stories on Khan Academy Kids

Encouraged First, do a little body break! Here are a few possible ideas to choose from: § Do 20 jumping jacks § Do some stretches § Choose a video from the list I sent your parents

Next, you are going to prepare your seeds for planting!

2. Get a small ziplock bag (sandwhich size), paper towel, paper (either in your notebook or any other paper)

3. On paper you will draw a picture of your seeds and write sentences to describe them using your senses. Label this drawing “Day 1” The seeds look like ______. The seeds feel like ________.

4. Use your thinking skills to make a prediction (a “smart guess”) about whether the seed will sprout or not. Write this down under your drawing I think the seed….
