Who is this? RECOGNITIONFOR EXCELLENCE

The

"Recognition of

Excellence" program, now in its 25th

year, is considered Pyle's greatest legacy. This

program shifted Illinois 4-H's focus away from a

competitive model and toward a more standards-

based, individual achievement model that

emphasized development of life skills. This approach to

4-H youth development has become the standard

nationwide.

What was the theme?

4-H . . . THE WIND IN YOUR SAILS

“One of the highlights of the Association's history was the hosting of the 1984 National Meeting of NAE4HA in Chicago. It was noted this was the biggest and best attended National meeting to date. It was also noted that one of the reasons Illinois was able to put on such a great National Meeting was the help and cooperation the Association received from all Extension Staff in Illinois.”
