    1. Describe your home-town/What kind of city is Abad?My home-town is Ahmedabad. It is situated on the banksof river Sabarmati, on the

    East side of the river lie the old Ahmedabad while the West side is the modern Abad.

    Both East and West parts of the city are linked by about 11 bridges. The city has a

    good infrastructure with broad roads and several fly-overs and under-passes to

    facilitate a smooth flow of traffic. The electricity hardly goes off as it goes off in otherparts of the country. So you can say that Abad enjoys UPS (uninterrupted Power

    Supply) whereas other cities have IPS (interrupted Power Supply). There are all the

    basic amenities required for a comfortable living, with malls, restaurants, hospitals,

    gardens, lakes and movie-plexes, Abad is considered to be one of the best places in

    the country to live in.

    2. Whats the weather like in your country?The weather depends on the season that is prevalent there. The summers are

    extreme taking the temperatures to around 48 degrees C, while some parts witness

    even sub-zero temperatures during winter. The same applies to monsoons, where

    the highest rainfall in the world is recorded in places like Cherrapunji while some

    areas in Rajasthan experience monsoons once in three years.

    3. What is the most interesting area in your city?The most interesting area according to me is the Lake Kankaria, which is one of thebiggest lakes in Abad city with many public attractions like zoo, toy train, kids city,

    tethered balloon ride, water rides and water park, food stalls it is a funtainmentparadise for the young and the old alike.

    History:Kankaria Lake was built by Sultan Kutubuddin in 15th century,completed in1451 CE and was known as "Qutub Hojj" or "Hauj-e-Kutub" At one point of thecircular lake, there opens a walkway which later merges into a garden calledNagina

    Wadi(which means beautiful garden inUrdu)that is located in the centre of the lake.With an approximate circumference of 1.4 miles (2.3 km), it represents the regale

    history of Ahmedabad. It is a 34-sided polygon having steps leading down to water

    level and right to the bottom of the lake.

    Major Attractions:

    Kankaria Zoo or the Kamla Nehru Zoological Park houses a treasure of wild animals

    like tigers, lions, python, anaconda, snakes, elephant, albinos (white), like the rhesusmonkey and peacock, spotted deer, white blackbuck, chinkara, elephants, emu,jungle babbler, bush-quail and common palm civet and many others.

    Balvatika is a children's park named after Jawaharlal Nehru.Balvatika has a boathouse, playroom, butterfly and weapon displays, mirror house, toy house and

    planetarium.

    Kids Cityis a miniature world designed for kids with rides like tiger train, Colombus,cup and saucer and many more.

    Toy Train:An imported joy-ride train, fromUK,circles the lake on a 4.5 km track ata speed of around10 km/h.

    Balloon Safari:Ahmedabad Eye is a tethered balloon ride which rises up to 350 feetand gives a breath-taking, panoramicview of the city.

    Nagina Wadi:is an island in center of Kankaria Lake which houses a small summerpalace and a musical fountain where water dances to the tunes of music andlights.

    India's biggest Stone Mural Parknamed Gurjar Gaurav Gatha on the side walls of

    the circular lake in which sculptors are depicting, in pink sand stone, the history andrise of Gujarat is under construction. It has murals covering 3150 sq feet depicting

    the history ofAhmedabadright now but when completed, it will measure 6000 feet inlength and will be world's largest mural (30000 sq.metre).

    4. What kind of jobs do people do there?Well, as far as jobs are concerned you can say that there are jobs for practically

    almost everyone who is willing to work. There are jobs for the literate and theilliterate, skilled and the unskilled, labor and the elite class, people even work in

    public and private sectors and a segment caters to the business class also. So the

    situation is like you name it, we have it kind.

    5. Do you think it is a good place to live?Yes, I sure do think it is a good place to live in. Besides having a goodinfrastructure and all the basic amenities, the people are co-operative and active

    and the crime rate is low. The females too can move around the city at night

    without being molested. If the day-time could be termed as hot, the nights aremostly pleasant.

    6. Do you have any hobbies or interests?Yes, I do. My hobbies and interests include listening to music, reading and

    sight-seeing. I am also fond of TV and movies.

    7. How did you first become interested in reading?Hmmmm, walking down the memory lane, I can visualize myself as a child where mymother used to read out bed time stories to me from a book with pictures. It sohappened that once my mother could not read out the stories to me as she was not

    well, and so I took the book; but all I could do was, study the pictures and let my

    fancy fly. This somehow got me interested in reading for myself and thats it, sincethen I never found myself alone I was always in the company of books.

    8. What kinds of transport do you use regularly?I regularly use a two wheeler to commute to my college/workplace and for shopping.In case, it is under service, then I use the public transport or the auto-rickshaw.

    9. How do people in your country travel on long journeys?As far as long journeys are concerned, there are three modes of transportused by the people. They are the air, rail and road. The corporate and the eliteclass prefer the air, while the comfort-loving ones travel by train and the less

    unfortunate travel by bus. However, there is a segment that prefers to travel

    in a class of its own. Such people travel by car, be it from Kashmir toKanyakumari.
