• I’m going to talk about one of my favourite educational TV rogrammes!
w"ic" is a nature documentary called #$lanet %art"’. T"ere were eleven
eisodes of t"is rogramme! and eac" one featured a different "abitat on
%art"! suc" as mountains! caves! deserts and &ungles. T"e aim of t"e #$lanet
%art"’ series was to take t"e viewer into t"ose "abitats! using sectacular
footage of interesting animals! lants and landscaes.
• I first saw #$lanet %art"’ on television w"en it was broadcast by t"e C
several years ago. I t"ink it was s"own every (unday evening! w"ic" was
t"e erfect time to watc" a fascinating nature rogramme. T"en! a few years
a ago! somebody boug"t me t"e )V) bo* set of t"e w"ole series as a
C"ristmas resent! and I watc"ed t"e eisodes again.
• I found out about t"is TV rogramme because it was advertised reeatedly
in t"e weeks before it was first aired. T"e TV trailers were really eye+
catc"ing because t"ey s"owed incredibly beautiful images of nature. I also
recognised t"e voice of t"e narrator of t"e rogramme! t"e well+knownnaturalist )avid ,ttenboroug". It was t"ese trailers t"at ersuaded me to
watc" t"e first eisode.
• -"at I liked most about t"e #$lanet %art"’ series was its stunning
"otogra"y and its global scoe. or e*amle! in t"e /res" -ater0
eisode! t"ey s"owed us t"e giant salamander in 1aan! crocodiles in t"e
river 2ile! and river dol"ins in t"e ,ma3on. I was ama3ed at "ow t"ey "ad
managed to film suc" interesting creatures in so many locations. I en&oyed
learning about strange animal secies! and t"e rogramme oened my eyes
to t"e "idden wonders of our lanet.
