This year, the PTA introduced a project called “Walking in the Footsteps of Imam Husain (AS)” to highlight one of the many characteristics of our third Imam: his kindness and generosity towards others. The purpose of this project is to encourage students to follow the example of Imam Husain (AS) by practicing good deeds. From November 5 to December 4, students recorded all good deeds they performed on a chart and were rewarded for doing so with a sum of money by their parents. At the end of the month, all money was brought in and
$694.20 raised so far for PTA fundraiser

TA class helped out at Project Downtown packaging food boxes and handing out hygiene kits.
On Sunday, November 3rd, IEC Madrasah’s TA class went to Project Downtown Orlando on a field trip to feed the needy. It was a lesson in inter-faith and intra-faith relationships as our TA class worked with other PDO volunteers from

different mosques and with UCF Nursing School Students to box breakfasts and lunches in assembly lines. From the planning, runs to nearby shops, and fundraisers, to the actual distribution, the entire process of this project was quite fulfilling. Our TA class also managed to get 100 hygiene kit supplies such as soap, combs, and deodorants to put together to hand out to the homeless. On behalf of the Teachers Assistants team
of IEC Madrasah Orlando, we would like to thank each of you who donated, provided the means for donations, and supported us throughout our very first event. This couldn’t have been such a success had it not been for you all! The smiles on the faces of the under-privileged reassured us that though it wasn’t a process of ease, it was absolutely worth its while.
