JANAURY 2011

For the first time, both of the Deaf Youth organisations on the island of Ire-land will be coming together to present to you a very exciting event! Newry is one hour away from both of the capital cities, Belfast and Dublin.

TICKETS:

There are limited tickets available for this event. 50 tickets are being sold, so please book your place in advance to save disap-pointment! £10 from NIDYA (including return bus to/from Belfast) €15 from IDYA (including return bus to/from Dublin) From Northern Ireland - You can buy your ticket from the NIDYA board; Alan Smith From Ireland - You can buy your ticket from any of the IDYA committee; Caroline McGrotty, Robert Arch-er, Paul Ryder, Ronan Lowry, Carmel Duggan, Sally Byrne or email in-fo@irishdeafyouth.com

TRANSPORT:

Buses will be provided from Dublin and from Belfast to take you to the event and back to the cities afterwards so you don't need to worry about how to get there or how to get home. The ticket entry to this event will include a return bus journey.

THEME:

The theme of the event will be Black vs Red. This means you must wear either black, red or a combination of both!

GAMES: There will be games on the night to provide entertainment and to get a laugh out of eve-ryone!

FOOD:

There will be a finger food buffet on the night

Happy New Year 2011!!! :D

By the time you read this most of you will have now settled back into routine, finished exams or maybe even still studying for ex-ams! Thank god Christmas is over and what a white Christmas it was! The snow affected a lot of people travelling home for Christ-mas. It took me over 8 hours to get home to Donegal when nor-mally it would be only 4 hours or so! My bum was sore afterwards and to make matters worse I forgot the Christmas Tree I had bought for my Dad on the bus! >:( Oh well!

We also had to cancel our Christmas Party which was a great shame but you can't take risks with people's health and safety! An-yways, we have a exciting month for you in February!

Then we have our first joint party with the NIDYA on the 19th! Re-member book your place for this event ASAP!

IDK's next FREE life-skills workshop for teens aged 13 to 18, is in Dublin, on February 19th, 2011, from 10am to 1.30pm. We guarantee you'll learn from the group activities! Real-time captioning and ISL interpretation are arranged. Please email info@irishdeafkids.ie to say you're attending. Tuesday, February 15th (6pm) is the booking deadline.

IDYA is proud to work with Arlene Caffrey, the pole dancing

instructor. She is well known and is involved in the TV pro-

gramme - All Ireland Talent Show. IDYA will hold a pole danc-

ing class in Bray, Co.Wicklow on the 5th of March 2011. €15

per person for 2 hours. More details will be available shortly
