Identifying Parts of a Book
Spine – is the backbone of the book
Front Cover – protects the pages of a book
Parts of a book Example 1 : Published in Australia
Title proper-is the name of the book
Statement of responsibility those responsible for the creation of the book, e.g. author, illustrator, editor, corporate author, photographer, etc.
Title Page
Publisher - Company that publishes the book.
Verso – is the back of the Title page
ISBN – is an unique number assigned to each edition and variation of a book.
Copyright date- when the book is copyrighted

First published date
Table of contents
Contents - contain list of Chapters
References
"References" is a listing of materials consulted when writing this book. This can also be referred to as a bibliography.
Appendix
Appendix is defined as the section at the end of a book that gives additional information on the topic explored in the contents of the text.
Index
Alphabetical list of names or terms given at the end of a printed text with page numbers on which item can be found.

ISBN- International Standard Book Number can also be found on the back of the cover. ISBNs were 10 digits in length up to the end of December 2006, but since 1st January 2007 they now always consist of 13 digits. ISBNs are calculated using a specific mathematical formula and include a check digit to validate the number.
Blurb - a short description of a book, film, or other product written for promotional purposes.
