Ideas for
worshipping as a
family during Coronavirus
Here are some suggestions of things you might like/be able to do at home to
worship as a family. These suggestions are all linked to the theme of the
Precious Pearl.
Sung Worship Suggestions
• My God is so big (the new one)

• He’s alive, oh yeah

• Bigger than Big

• He’s coming back again

Story
We will do both of these, repetition is good for children.
• Use a Bible story book to read the story of the Precious Pearl (or read it
from an adult bible as it’s very short, Matthew 13:45-46)
• Show a You Tube clip of the story such as this one

Activities to explore the story further
Use one or some of these as opportunities to talk and
reflect on the story together and to retell the story:
• Make a treasure chest picture
• Draw or colour a picture of the story while
you talk about it.
• Draw a picture of something or someone
precious to you and talk about it
• Colour in the memory verse sheet. (Large
version attached at the end of the document.)
• Precious Pearl biscuits. Decorate a plain biscuit using icing and
sprinkles, (you could place a ball of white icing to represent the pearl
or use the whole biscuit as the pearl), cover with a cupcake case and
retell the story, uncover to find the pearl.

Discuss
• Is there anything you would sell everything you have to get?
• What is precious to you?
• What is more important than things?
• This parable is about the kingdom of God. What does this story tell
us about the kingdom of God?
• …
Prayer
Spend some time praying together, you might like to try these:
• Water prayers
o Take time to ask God to
help. It might be a
particular situation, place
or person.
o Write or draw your prayer
onto a square of paper.
o Fold the points into the
middle.
o Place your prayer onto the top of a bowl of water.
o Watch as it opens out.
• The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
Serving others
Spend a few minutes thinking about how you can help other people, either as a
family or individually. Here are some ideas but there are many more:
• Some people will be feeling lonely just now. Talk about how you
might be able to help them feel loved.
• Buy some food to give to a food bank
• Do something kind to help someone else in your house today or this
week.
