It’s the beginning of a new year and there’s no better way to start 2010 than taking part in some of the great activities and events in Idea Stores and libraries. We’ll be celebrating National Story Telling Week, running fantastic activities for the kids during half-term, showing some cool films on the big screen and lots more.

Celebrate the start of National Story Telling Week with a creative activity for all of you budding writers out there! Write and design your very own picture book. For adults there is a Q&A and book signing with local author Kia Abdullah.

Do you wish there was something to do that would have a positive impact on your life? Well, there are many uniformed organisations in Tower Hamlets that can help you do just that. Come and join us for our very first ‘Project YOU Activity Day’ which will have members of 9 different uniformed units ready and willing to talk to you about their experiences of being part of fun and exciting groups, such as Police Cadets, Army Cadets, Scouts, Girl Guides, St John’s Ambulance and many more.

Book Group Author Event with Nadifa Mohamed [Ages18+]Thursday 11 February 7.00pm - 8.45pm

We will be discussing ‘Black Mamba Boy’ with debut novelist Nadifa Mohamed. Nadifa will be reading, answering questions and signing copies of her new book which will also be on sale at the event. For fans of Adichie’s ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’, this stunning novel is set in 1930s Somalia and spans a decade of war and upheaval, all seen through the eyes of a small boy.
