of my favourite onsen towns, so I tend to recommend this place when people need ideas on where

to visit if they are planning to visit Kansai region.

What I liked is that this town has a nostalgic feel, and the guests who are staying overnight at the

ryokans at Kinosaki onsen will wear yukata (provided by the ryokans) and wooden clogs in the

evening and stroll along the streets going to the shops or headed for 1 of the public onsen

(hotspring).

To go Kinosaki onsen from Osaka:

rom !saka station, take "td #$p Konotori train to Kinosaki onsen. (about 1%&mins)

'here is only 1 "td #$p Konotori train departure every hourly or so.sually, there is a train departure at around am, *am, 1&am, 1+noon, +pm, and pm from -hin

(unreserved seat), which is why if you plan on visiting Kurashiki and2or !kayama, it would be

advisable for you to get the 3 days 45 Kansai Wide /rea 6ass (assuming you are not planning to

get the nationwide 45 6ass) since a return 0ourney (i.e. -hin!saka to !kayama, and then

!kayama back to -hin!saka) would cost 11&&&yen whereas the 45 Kansai Wide /rea pass only

costs 7+&&yen...which gives you a cost savings of &&yen.

!kayama has a beautiful garden, Korakuen, which is also ranked as 1 of the best landscape

garden in 4apan (along with Kana8awa9s Kenrokuen and :ito9s Kairakuen). 4ust across fromKorakuen, you could also visit !kayama castle.

though, some trains along this line might end at Hamasaka, so you might have to do a train transfer at Hamasaka. If you have time at Hamasaka,

you could use the free hotspring foot bath just outside the station while waiting for your train transfer. Remember to bring a small towel for you to

wipe your feet with if you plan on doing so. Yes, there's toilet facilities onboard this train.

Instead of just going to !ottori, I'd recommend spending a night at "inosaki onsen along the way as

well, since "inosaki onsen is along the way.

Day 1: Osaka to Kinosaki onsen via Ltd Exp Konotori train. Visit Kinosaki onsen. Stay at

Kinosaki onsen.

!he train journey takes about %&mins, usual fare of ()yen for non*reserved seat is covered by

Day 2: Kinosaki onsen to Tottori via JR San-in line. Visit Tottori. Stay at Tottori.

"inosaki onsen to Hamasaka is covered by the railpass, and from Hamasaka to !ottori, you'd have

goes direct to !ottori, for some trains along this line, you would have to alight at Hamasaka station

to do a train transfer.

Day : Tottori to Osaka. Stay at Osaka.

access is #hin*/saka station which is just a few minutes train away from /saka station.

!hat said, the reason why you'd have to top up +even if you have either R "ansai 8ide 7rea 9ass

or R 9ass to go to 7manohashidate is because the train lines that goes to 7manohashidate runs

on non*R tracks.
