IDB Executive Fellows
The Executive Fellows Program provides selected retired senior leaders
from the Department of Defense and the military services an opportunity
to continue to apply their knowledge and experience. Fellows contribute
significantly by serving as guest lecturers across the range of IDBprograms, representing the IDB at conferences, and working with faculty
on key academic case studies and research. In addition, Fellows have the
opportunity to partner with colleagues on articles or monographs on
topics of particular interest to them.
SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services, sponsors the
program.

ResearchThe Institute for Defense and Business (IDB) conducts both applied and basic research tosupport its portfolio of educational programs and specific research projects. As an
acknowledged leader at the vanguard of transformational business practices in both the DoD
and private sector, IDB has been asked to conduct a variety of research projects involving
clients ranging from the Directorate of Logistics, J4 of the Joint Staff to private sector firms
providing humanitarian relief in conflict zones.
The research effort for LOGTECH is a dynamic program that is updated annually. In the first
year of LOGTECH, a series of case studies were prepared examining a range of business
management and organizational transformation issues. Research for years two and three of
LOGTECH focused on five transformational themes indentified as critical by LOGTECH Subject
Matter Experts Board members. These themes included Footprint Reduction Through Fuel
Efficiency, Product Life Cycle Management for Design and Maintenance, Technology
Deployment for Total Asset Visibility, Security in Logistics Communications and Outsourcing
Logistics.
These complimentary research efforts guided curriculum development for the executive
education programs and other LOGTECH programmatic activities. Ongoing research and case
study development remain critical in shaping the content of LOGTECH offerings as well as
that of IDBs other programs.
