Swanbank B & E This coal-fired power station has been providing electricity since 1971. The power station comprises four 120MW units and is fuelled by black coal trucked from mines in South East Queensland.

Mica Creek (325 MW)Previously a coal-fired power station, Mica Creek was converted to a gas-fired combustion in 2000. Mica Creek supplies electricity to the region’s mining industries, as well as Mount Isa, Cloncurry and surrounding communities.

Mackay Gas Turbine (32 MW)Commissioned in 1975 this remote controlled generator uses diesel oil for fuel and is relied upon in periods of high customer demand.

Barron Gorge Hydro-electric Power Station (60MW)Commissioned in 1963. Barron Gorge is located in Far North Queensland, a t the northernmost end of the State’s high voltage electricity grid.

Kareeya Hydro-electric Power Station (81MW)Kareeya Hydro has been providing electricity to Queenslanders since 1957.

Koombooloomba Hydro (7.3 MW)Commissioned in 1999. This is a dam release point Hydro situated onKoombooloomba Dam. The Hydro operates by capturing energy from existing water releases required for the operation of Kareeya Hydro.

Wivenhoe Small Hydro (4.3 MW)Commissioned in 2002 Wivenhoe Small Hydro is located beneath one of Wivenhoe Dam’s 5 spillways slots. Electricity generated is injected directly into the Energex distribution network.
