Aims at stimulation of domestic saving + private investment in infrastructure development, human resource development, education, agriculture, science & technology and ICT

Tanzania to become a hub of ICT infrastructure and ICT solutions that enhance sustainable social economic development and accelerated poverty reduction both nationally & globally

To enhance nation-wide economic growth and social progress by encouraging beneficial ICT activities in all sectors through providing a conducive framework for investments in capacity building and in promoting multi-layered co-operation & knowledge sharing locally & globally.

Aims to design and validate a strategy for establishing sustainable broadband markets in rural Tanzania and proposing connectivity programme based on this strategy.

APPROACHAPPROACH

Initial focus of the project :

(a) Service sectors

Promote ICT applications in Healthcare, Education, local administration and SMEs

(b) Infrastructure

Use of existing infrastructures (wired and wireless)

(c) Cooperation

Seeking cooperation with partners already working with healthcare, school, local government administration and small businesses.

(a) T-nology & T-nical solns are tested in pilot sites based on:

(i) Availability of redundant/ under-utilized infrastructure(ii) Type of Business models(iii) Degree of Awareness and Capacity(iv) Geographical Coverage(v) Relevance to key application areas

(b) Work organization:

(i) The bulk of work is done by students working for stakeholders in multi-stakeholder partnerships generating

Entrepreneurship Identify & disseminate information about ICT business opportunities Assist entrepreneurs in venture creation & business establishment Stimulate the organisation of education & training opportunities at all levels.
