Modalities to improve the spinal column dysfunctions by using some complementary kinetic means
Leonard Acasandrei a, Sabina Macovei b*
a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania
Abstract Sports medicine more and more often requires the use of complementary kinetic means for the prophylaxis and
improvement of different dysfunctions at the spinal column level, but also in order to potentiate sports effectiveness. The
present study aims at objectifying, through electronic baropodometry, the efficiency of a complex recovery program using
complementary kinetic means (shiatsu, yumeiho, reflexotherapy, qigong) on a female athlete, practitioner of performance
aerobic gymnastics, who presents dysfunctions at the spinal column level (scoliosis).

a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania
Abstract A speedier reintegration of the basketball players in their specific activity after having suffered a sprained ankle will
determine a decrease in the negative impact of ceasing the kinetic activity on the performance capacity and will
contribute to continuing their specific activity in parameters close to the ones prior to the trauma. This goal can be
achieved by a systematic approach of the individual in the rehabilitation process. This study addresses the entire
rehabilitation process, starting with the diagnosis and till the reintegration in the specific activity. It isolates, modifies and
selects external and internal factors with the purpose of following their influence on the studied phenomena.

Abstract Virtual modeling of a bio-mechanical system have the advantage of simulation possibility of normal or critical situations
concerning the mechanical load of system elements and evidencing the limits between normal and traumatically effect
through tensions and deformation state that appear in the system components. The mechanical tensions state simulation
reveal values much smaller than critical limit of the bone mechanical resistance so the medical recovery exercises using
weights to 5 kg in flexion-extension movement can be done without any traumatic risks of the bone.

Abstract Like the dynamic models, all analytical biomechanical models can be analyzed directly when starting, essentially, from
cause to effect or indirectly (inversely), when it starts from the effect to cause. In the article it is presented the dynamic
model with one degree of freedom, regardless of the adopted structural model. From the results it was observed that the
torso of the joint reaction forces depending on mechanical loading condition of the analyzed body segment is a functional
parameter of any technical system used in the rehabilitation of the elbow joint.

Abstract Paying respect for the article purpose which represent a post-traumatically recovery of the elbow joint a proper
kinematical model is a straight one that suppose certain angular variations of elbow articulations determining the
positions, rates and accelerations of the interested points of kinematical chain of the upper limb. Definition of two
independent variable geometrical parameters respectively the flexion-extension and pronation-supination angles
imposes the utilization of the two freedom degree model. This way the joint rehabilitation of elbow will be completed and
the analytical functions determination for kinematical characteristics will be helpful for simulation of some particular

Improving the compensating hyperlordosis symptoms in female
gymnasts through the use of postural reeducation programs
Cristina Elena Popa a, Tatiana Dobrescu a*
a “Vasile Alecsandri” University of Bacau,157 Mărăşeşti Street, Bacău, 600115, Romania
Abstract The favoring causes leading to the appearance of hyperlordosis in female gymnasts are represented by a physical
development that is improper for the demands of professional sports, which leads to a series of symptoms manifested
through muscular imbalances in the anterior pelvic-femoral, posterior lumbar-pelvic and pelvic femoral regions, and in
the abdominal muscles. This study aims to emphasize the effectiveness of the physical therapy means that are applied
early on in the treatment of the symptoms of lumbar spine deviation, aiming to improve the joint mobility, strengthen the
injured muscles, and harmonize the physiological curves of the spine. Aiming to record conclusive results, we choose to
study a group of 10 professional female gymnasts, who, after the initial assessment showed a compensating lumbar
hyperlordosis. The applicative intervention consisted in the application of iso-stretching and therapeutic physical
exercises using the Klein ball, over the course of approximately 7 months. From the analysis of the results, we observed
that the implementation of postural reeducation programs under the conditions of strictly respecting the age
particularities, has beneficial effects in stabilizing the posture and the movements, leading to a static symmetrical ability
without compensating and faulty movements, positively influencing the harmonious physical development of the female
gymnasts, as well as the functioning ability of the whole body.

Study regarding the benefits of applying HAD (Hospital Anxiety-Depression Scale) in athletes during pregnancy
El-Bsat Ruxandra Mirela a*
a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania
Abstract Pregnancy can be a very stressful time in a woman's life, a time when she is dealing with delicate health situations.
Moreover, in regard to the scale of dealing with stressful situations designed by Holmes (1970); Rahe and Arthur (1978),
pregnancy occupies the 7th place, comprising a score of 40 points. Professional athletes fear that maternity could
represent a disruption in their competitional activity, and a return to their previous physical condition would be
significantly prolonged. In the present study, the HAD scale was applied in the case of 2 lots of pregnant professional
athletes, pregnant both when included in the study as well as at a gestational period of 30 weeks. One of the lots
underwent a complex program composed of obstetrics prophylactic kinetotherapy, which comprised both specific
conventional kinetic methods (physical exercise, massage and posture techniques) as well as psychopedagogical ones
(counselling, relaxation techniques, suggestion and autosuggestion, positive thinking); the other lot only underwent
specific conventional methods. With the help of the HAD scale, the initial and final levels of depression and anxiety were
determined, leading to the conclusion that they were significantly reduced in the case of the experimental lot, after
applying the above-mentioned psychopedagogical methods (counselling, relaxation techniques, suggestion and
autosuggestion, positive thinking).

Abstract Osteoporosis represents one of the main factors contributing to premature morbidity in individuals with Down Syndrome
(DS) who are characterized by muscle hypotonia. The purpose of this study was to assess the bone ultrasound properties
in a cohort of subjects with DS with reference to age and body tonicity. One hundred ninety-three subjects with DS and
246 healthy subjects participated in this study. Broadband Ultrasound Attenuation (BUA) was measured. Stabilometric
performances were obtained from a force platform. Subjects were divided into four age groups (mean age 10.8 yrs, 15.2
yrs, 20.5 yrs, 33.4 yrs respectively) using a decision tree procedure. Subjects with DS differed from controls for BUA at the
two older age groups. Stabilometric performances of the controls were higher at each age group, showing an
improvement of stability and tonicity with age. Results of this study showed the bone degradation that occurs at the end
of adolescence and in adulthood in individuals with DS. BUA values and stabilometric performances were able to
distinguish DS from controls in the two older age groups whom low bone status may be explained by a deficient postural
tone.

Abstract Embryogenesis and body are closely related with the locomotor movements in the ontogenetic evolution. The newborns
at start, have the movement reflexes very disordered. Child growth and development are marked with a balance sense,
and are also marked by the orientation ability of the body and its segments. An important role in balance and
coordination has the position of the head compared with the position of the body, and the body related with the
environment. Cerebral paralysis is a general term for a group of chronic diseases aiming specifically to control body
movements and its segments. Abnormal development or damages on the motor areas in the brain after hypoxia, leads to
brain-destroying ability to control and coordinate their movements and body posture. Body Balance is a complex function
that allows human beings to have consciousness of their body position and its segments, and to control it. The child body
is the central platform that builds the knowledge.

Abstract Abdominal hernia repair procedures are some of the most common procedures in a surgical department. Among the
hernia causes we can mention the existance af an anatomical natural oriffice in a weak area of the abdominal wall and the
pressure variation on the wall. Lately, golden standard for antero-lateral wall defects repair has become the laparoscopic
approach. Due to the fact that the Spiegelian hernia diagnosis has a surgical treatment indication, the purpose of this
paper is to highlight the advantages of the laparoscopic method in the recovery of performance athlets. This paper is a
case study, of a karate professional athlete, who was treated for a left Spiegel hernia with a laparoscopic alloplastic
procedure. Results: the postoperative recovery lasted for 2 days, meanwhile a classical procedure would need a 5-day
recovery in the hospital, minimal postoperatory pain experienced and fast professional reinstatement- beginning the
usual training 2 weeks after the surgery (while with the classical approach it would have requested at least a month
recovery) and competing after 3 months. Also, no recurrences have been observed during follow-up.

Abstract The main purpose of this study is to offer physical therapy practitioners theoretical knowledge and methodological
foundations needed to use electromyography to detect and assess shortcomings of development and abnormal function
of the spine in young school-age children. The study begins by presenting the incidence of spine deficiencies for school-
age children, supported by objective data derived from our research. We then present a synthesis of the striated muscle
structure, its contraction mechanism and studies on the normal and the pathological state of skeletal muscles associated
with the spine.
In the context of modern methods for spine research, the usefulness of electromyography is highlighted and a synthesis of
the following aspects is presented: applications approved for clinical neurophysiology, electromyography as a method of
investigation in kinesiology, qualities and diagnostic value of EMG, clinical applications. Details of normal and abnormal
results and the EMG recording BIOPAC system are also presented.

Abstract The complexity of the manifestation forms and the disorders of motric, physical, mental, sensorial, neuro-psychic origin
met in the cerebral paralysis determines on the one hand, at the pacient’s functional level an incapacity materialized
under the social aspect in a bigger or smaller handicap, and on the other hand, regarding the family and the medical team
a continuous fight towards a larger degree of independence.
Spastic tetraparesis is the cerebral paralysis which is characterised by the affectation of all the four limbs. It is associated
with disorders of the muscularity of the whole body and it is the most severe form of paralysis.
The kinetotherapeutic means and objectives used: the adaptation of the environment to the child’s needs or towards a
better development of motricity, sensory-motric stimulation, the education of balance, stability and the defence reactions,
the education of sensitivity and proprioception, the psycho-motric re-education, the functional re-education.

a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania
Abstract For the mentally disabled children, choosing the specific methods in organizing and teaching the physical education
lessons is of great importance for its quality and comprehensiveness.
Therefore, we must agree that using differentiated instruction as a method for emphasizing each child’s abbilities leads to
the achievement of the specific objectives of the physical education classes. This experimental study compares the results
of the initial and final assessments of the experiment group, as well as the results of the final assessment between the
experiment group and the control one for the motor abbility speed.

a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania b Special Secondary School no 5, 13 Turturelelor Street, Bucharest 030881, Romania
Abstract In our country, on account of numerous community schools, scarce number of physical education classes per week, the
diminished time assigned to each lesson and precarious material basis, the method of differentiated instruction is not
frequently used in the educational training process. However, special education through a very scarce number of pupils
listed in a class makes from the differentiated instruction a basis for guiding the activity within the physical education
lessons.
Another important aspect of differentiated instruction constitutes the adaptability to the pupils` peculiar characteristics.
Therefore our interest heads towards the physical education efficiency process by means of this method which harness
the pupils motor skills capacity by developing the educational braining process by gender and value groups constituted in
accordance with the biomotric potential specific each pupil.
The experimental study aimed at improving the motor quality strength through the application of some differentiated
operational modules, elaborated after the initial evaluation from the training periods.

Abstract
The present work aims to emphasize the importance of application of precocious training programs upon the anterior
cruciate ligament. This study has been developed on a number of 5 male subjects, diagnosed with anterior cruciate
ligament injuries, repaired by ligamentoplasties, out of which two on the right knee and three on the left knee. The results
have shown that anterior cruciate ligament injuries are more frequent on the left knee and regarding the stability for the
time of reaction, patients with right anterior ligament achieve a better reaction time in sagittal, as opposed to patients
with left anterior cruciate ligament.

Options to educate the intersegmental coordination and balance
of children with intellectual disabilities by multi-sensory stimulation programmes
Silvia Teodorescu a, Ofelia Popescu a*
a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania
Abstract Children with intellectual disabilities face many difficulties in learning and, consequently, they need more support at
personal level, both in terms of education, and in terms of social integration. One of the characteristics of this category of
children is the poor ability to assimilate new or complex information, to get new skills and to be independent.
Based on the assumption that each child has his/her own development rhythm and a unique growth and development
pattern, forming new motor skills is efficient if the child is aware on his/her own body, has stability and can coordinate
the motor gestures.

a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania
Abstract
This study aims at conceiving a strategic training and reference assessment system concerning the balance component,
according to the diverse Special Olympics gymnasts’ potential. The experimental group includes 24 beginner gymnasts,
within level A and level I. Due to our practical experience and statistical confirmations, we believe that the mentioned
evaluation system should comprise three general tests (Romberg Matorin, Unipodal test,), a specific test (the level A
beam routine) and three reference technical tests (three side rolls towards left and three towards right with a stand
lifting , maintained sat set square - execution, held side balance time-trial). Also, a specific adapted instructional content
has been developed, so that this motor capacity should improve in a significant manner.

Abstract This paper includes a study conducted on 60 individuals with spinal cord injuries, identified by Motivation Romania
Foundation and invited to participate in three regional camps, each consisting in a seven days active rehabilitation
program. These camps are part of the project “The Wheels of Change Move On – towards appropriate wheelchair
provision, sports and accessibility for mainstream participation of Romanians with disabilities”, financed by the United
States Agency for International Development – USAID.
The goals of the program are: to provide independent living training, to identify the recurrence of associated pathology,
to generate a customized therapeutic strategy for each participant, to conduct medium term monitoring in order to assess
the evolution of the complex therapy the participants benefited from.
The results, partly confirming other findings in the literature, showed regional differences that allowed the design of a
multidisciplinary therapeutic approach.

a University of Salerno, Via Giovanni Paolo II, 132 - 84084 – Fisciano, Salermo, Italy
Abstract This study examine the incidence of postural aspects on wellness status and performance of 14 women water polo
players of Italian A1 Championship. The research focus in the assessing the 3D detection of the surface of the trunk of the
athletes in order to detect the state of their vertebral column to evaluate the incidence of posture in water performance.
Object of investigation is the ability of adaption the athletes body in water in order to adjust and compensate the pain
effects of pathological curves such as kyphosis, lordosis and scoliosis.
The "Spinometria Formetric" allows for quick detection of the 3D morphology of the trunk, with extreme accuracy, with a
margin of error of less than 0.2 mm, high fast, a few minutes for the entire procedure, and safe for the non-invasiveness.
The Formetric check-up provides a series of indicators which allow to obtain a detailed assessment of the subject posture,
thus allowing complete clinical examination with quantitative elements.
Data collected show that pathological curves observed in athletes may be compensated by other adjustments of the body,
produced in vigorous in water exercise and have no effect on the state of wellness nor on the performance, where states
of soreness resulting in a lower performance levels have been detected in subjects who had no pathological curves.

Abstract The present study reflects personal interest in the methods and means of prevention of pain in performance sports. In its
preparation I rely on personal experience in this area resulting from the execution of a training session at a specialized
sports center in Germany that deals with the study and analysis of human motion and position as well as the
manufacturing of active orthopedic inserts. This paper reflects the opinion of some experts in this area, that of a group of
orthopedic and sports medicine doctors, teachers and sports coaches, physiotherapists and former athletes in the use of
the orthopedic insoles and their effects on the human body.
Most of the high performance athletes that I came in contact with complained of physical pain after and even during
workouts as well as sports competitions especially at the knees and back. The tension reduction and fatigue in the legs
and back during and after intense exercise and also preventing clear locomotion defects can be achieved by using these
active orthopedic inserts, designed by specialists for each individual. These must be used appropriately in time and in
combination with specific medical gymnastics exercises. They increase the level of comfort during any strenuous
exercises and contribute to achieving the targets, namely sports performance and the longevity of the sports career as
well as the overall health after its termination.

Massage versus kinesio taping. Possibilities to enhance the kinetic program in mechanically triggered neck pain
Cordun Mariana a, Tecuceanu Carmen-Oana a*
a National University of Physical Education and Sport, Constantin Noica, No. 140, 060057, Bucharest, Romania
Abstract Mechanically triggered cervicalgia is frequently encountered in persons holding a fixed, monotonous position and is a
pain at the level of the cervical paraspinal muscles and ligaments, which may be associated with muscular contraction,
with stiffness and blocking of the upper thorax and shoulders.
The study we undertake to conduct starts from the assumption that massage, on the one hand, and kinesio taping, on the
other hand, in association with physiotherapy have different effects in obtaining painlessness, diminishing discomfort
and enhancing articular amplitude in the cervical region.
For testing purposes we used: the pain numeric scale (0-10), the neck disability index (NDI) and articular testing
(CROM). The patients belonging to the two groups were dynamically tested at the beginning of the study and after a week
during which they underwent differential treatment.
The test results showed a minimal difference between the two groups in point of pain, discomfort and range of motion in
the cervical region, the patients benefiting from kinesio taping recorded a more rapid diminishment of the painful
phenomenon.
