I would like to welcome you to ICM and to congratulate you on your choiceto study with us and the University of Manitoba.

ICM will help you achieve your education goals through personalized supportand the opportunity to study at one of Canadas premier universities. You

will also have an expansive personal experience living and studying in ourvibrant multicultural community and country.

The information contained in this guide is to help you get started on your journey to Canada, to ICM and the University of Manitoba. There is anabundance of help and resources available to our students and our dedicatedstaff are here to help you be successful.

Identification (e.g. drivers licence )

Medical records and immunization records

Credit card(s) and pocket money (approx. $200 CDN cash)

International prepaid phone card Name, address, telephone number of where you will spend your first night in

Canada

Contact numbers (family and ICM)

Summer can be hot, average temperature of +26

C

Winters will be cold often -15

C

Canadians dress for the weather- warm boots, mittens,hats, and jackets

Buy you jackets and boots in Winnipeg they arecheaper here!

Electrical systems in Canada are 110 volts(2 or 3 pin plug)

Health Insurance

Canadian law requires all students to have health insurance

Family members accompanying students need to purchase health insurance for theduration of their stay

ICM students have basic health insurance as part of their fees and are covered for12 months. After 12 months, students have the option to extend this coverage orapply for the Manitoba Health Plan

Covered: visits to doctors, hospital stays and diagnostic medical testing

Not Covered: dental and prescriptions

Extended health insurance can be purchase through private insurance carriers



Orientation

Thursday, September 1 st and Friday, September 2 nd

Orientation is mandatory for new students

Learn about the campus, Winnipeg and make

new friends! Important information about your studies at

ICM and register for courses

Wednesday, August 31 st

English and UTP1 Math placement tests ALLUTP1 students must write this test

Course Registration

Students can register for courses online beginningAugust 22 nd

In order to access the Student Portal , you must

have: 1. an unconditional offer and;2. submitted a copy of your visa

Check your email box for an email called How toregister for your courses at ICM

You can access the Student Portal via our website: www.icmanitoba.ca

Username = ICM student ID number

Password = DOB YYYY/MM/DD

For those students needing to take the Math Placement Test practice questionscan be found on Portal

Math Placement Test will be held on August 28 th at 1 PM

English Placement Test will be held on August 28 th at 10 AM
