“Snowdrops come in many shapes and sizes, but Galanthus reginae-olgae bares a different characteristic to other species. Traditionally snowdrops will flower between February to March, whereas Galanthus reginae-olgae will flower between November to December. Planting them throughout the Albana walk means the display will enhance Ickworth’s biodiversity whilst creating a new and special experience for our visitors. We have chosen this area of the estate as we know the species will naturalise over time, a new and lasting legacy. Galanthus reginae-olgae is a beautiful plant and we are excited for our visitors to introduce this exciting addition to Ickworth.”

Ickworth’s parkland and gardens showcase an ever-changing landscape through its plant life. We want to extend our display of historic snowdrops, including the rarer species of Galanthus reginae-olgae which blooms in November, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy Ickworth’s special snowdrop collection along the Albana walk for longer.

Along with a thank you letter for your donation, you will be invited to Ickworth to sign our commemorative book on display in the West Wing Orangery. We also invite you to join us on a specialist private walk led by a member of our garden team to show how your donation has supported our conservation work.

By donating to our snowdrop project at Ickworth, you’ll be helping to plant memories and support the survival of historic plant varieties. Your donation will help us to plant bulbs that will add to Ickworth’s historic snowdrop collection over time.

Ickworth is a country estate in Suffolk created from a personal and passionate vision of classical Italy. An Italianate Palace set within serene formal gardens and parkland, a family’s retreat, now open to visitors to explore, enjoy, and rediscover. A place to make memories, a place you will never forget.

We recognise that the special places we take care of hold precious memories for you and your loved ones; whether that is walking hand-in-hand through winding woodland or taking a minute to breathe, surrounded by an unforgettable view. We appreciate that it is these moments which keep the National Trust close to your heart.

In the East of England region we are working with some of our special places to create opportunities that will help you celebrate a milestone occasion or remember a loved one whilst supporting our cause. At each place there is the chance to help us restore the natural environment, conserve historic collections or provide vital resources to enable us to continue their work.

By gifting, in celebration or memory, to one of these places you will receive a letter of thanks from the property, a token to signify your gift and an invite to visit and see the progression of a project. You will also be invited to write a message in the property’s dedication book, which you and your family and friends can revisit.

Each special place has three different project opportunities for you to support. Please read the property projects page overleaf carefully to decide which project you might like to make a gift to. To make a donation, please use the application form and envelope enclosed to support your chosen project and make a lifelong gift.

Step 3... return the application form and your chosen gift amount to your selected property in the pre-addressed envelope, or to visitor reception the next time you visit

Step 4... receive your letter of thanks and token, and decide which date you would like to visit the property and project

Step 5... visit the property and write your message in the dedication book

Please note: Do not send cash through the post, further guidance on donating your gift can be found on the application form.

Although we endeavour to ensure you are able to support the project of your choice, this is done on a first come first serve basis, however all funds raised will contribute to projects at Ickworth. If the project you wish to support is already funded, a member of the team will contact you directly to discuss other opportunities.
